Engine stalling out after fill up with gas: this is a problem that Dodge is aware of and will not address it. It's kind of like tough luck, that's what you get for buying a Dodge.

EVERY fill-up, the car stalls 3-4 times as we try to leave the station. Almost had wrecks a few times as we tried to get back into traffic, van would buck and actually die. It always started back up OK, and after 3-4 times it was OK until the next fill-up. Sure makes you dread fill-ups for a weird reason!!!.

It stalls as soon as I leave the gas pump area after refueling.

Engine shuts down within a couple minutes of filling up fuel tank. Most times happens at stop sign approaching roadway leaving gas station or on the highway once driving. This has happened at least 10 times with this vehicle always after filling.

After filling up with gas the engine will run really rough and sometimes the engine will stall. This is a big issue to me for safety reasons. As I pull out into traffic from the gas station or from a intersection it will jerk and sometimes stalls. So I am sitting in traffic trying to start the engine again. One of these times I will get hit by another vehicle. This is a VERY big safety issue for me.

Talked to dealer and they said to fix this small problem they would have to replace the entire gas tank. Approx cost is $800. Apparently the fuel filter is what is causing the car to stall and it is inside the gas tank. Brillant, because you never have to replace the fuel filter. Who thought of this?

Have another 2005 Dodge Caravan with the same issue, only it had a recall for fuel shut off float in the multifunction control value. It sticks which may result in the vehicle stalling after refueling. Which in essence they had replace the fuel tank. Now is is happening with the 2005 I am currently driving. Don't understand why one gets a recall and the other does not.
