This problem is really dangerous and I am now afraid to drive the car at night. My understanding is that changing the TIPM is very expensive. Dodge has known about this problem for years and does not seem concerned about the safety of its customers. The last three cars purchased by my family were Dodges but never again.

COMING BACK FROM HALIFAX AIRPORT TO HOTEL 30 KM AWAY - LOST HEADLAMPS DOING 100KM/H - WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO HOTEL LUCKILY TO PUT HAZARDS ON AND LIMP SLOWLY TO THE HOTEL PARKING.
IT IS FREEKIN SCARY / DANGEROUS TO LOOSE ALL HEADLIGHTING DOING 100KM/H!

ME AND MY WIFE AND 3 KIDS HAD TO DRIVE TO HALIFAX TO FETCH MY IN-LAWS FROM AIRPORT AT MIDNIGHT... AND YOU GUESSED IT - LIGHTS SWITCHED OFF AT 12.30 AT NIGHT ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY DOING 110KM/HOUR - NOW IF THAT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE - THEN I DONT KNOW WHAT IS! I DISCONNECTED THE POSITIVE FROM THE BATTERY TO TRY GET THEM TO WORK AGAIN BUT THEY WOULDNT - ENDED UP PUTTING HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND FOLLOWED A CITY BUS TO THE AIRPORT. UNDER THE AIRPORT PARKING LIGHTING - DISCONNECTED BOTH BATTERY TERMINALS FOR A FEW MINUTES - WHEN RECONNECTED THEY WORKED AGAIN. MANAGED TO DRIVE BACK TO HOTEL 30KM AWAY - AND LOST LIGHTING A SECOND TIME THAT NIGHT DOING 100KM/H JUST BEFORE THE HOTEL EXIT.
CALLED DEALER ONLY TO BE TOLD IT WILL COST $1200 TO REPLACE THE TIPM :(

THIS WAS THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM CHURCH AT 10PM IN POURING RAIN DOING AROUND 70 KM PER HOUR WHEN SUDDENLY BOTH MY HEADLAMPS SWITCHED OFF - PRETTY FREEKIN SCARY WHEN YOU SUDDENLY CANNOT SEE ANYTHING. MANAGED TO LIMP HOME WITH HAZARDS FLASHING. NEXT MORNING IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. SEEMED TO WORK FOR 2 DAYS AND THEN WAS LEAVING FOR WORK IN THE AM WITH IT RAINING AGAIN AND AGAIN NO LIGHTS. WAS LIGHT ENOUGH TO DRIVE TO WORK - BUT IN CANADA IT IS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE A NEWER VEHICLE WITHOUT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. THEY WORKED AGAIN COMING HOME FROM WORK. THE NEXT SATURDAY ME AND MY WIFE AND 3 KIDS HAD TO DRIVE TO HALIFAX TO FETCH MY IN-LAWS FROM AIRPORT AT MIDNIGHT... AND YOU GUESSED IT - LIGHTS SWITCHED OFF AT 12.30 AT NIGHT ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY DOING 110KM/HOUR - NOW IF THAT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE - THEN I DONT KNOW WHAT IS! I have had my headlights go out at night so many times I can't count! Both of my kids where in the car almost every, if not every time. I hate that dodge's answer is trade up or call us if it happens again they don't seem to care that they are using my kids as live test dummies! It pisses me off!

My headlights will turn off while I am driving. Sometimes they turn off and on several times in a few seconds and sometimes they just go off and won't turn back on. When they go off and won't come back on, I have to stop the car turn it off for several seconds and then when I restart the car the headlights will work again, at least for a while. This happens to both the highbeams and lowbeams, but not the fog lights. This has been going on for about a year. Sometimes it wont happen for a month or two and then at other times of the year it will happen several times every time that I drive the car. I think that it may be temperature related. It was happening all the time this spring and then when it got really hot this summer it stopped happening for a month and a half. Now that it is fall it is happening again almost every day. I've taken it to the dealer, but of course the lights were working fine at that time and the dealer couldn't find any problem.

Chrysler says it's not a significant safety issue to lose your headlights at night while driving. Wow! I wonder how much they paid to keep that off the recall list? Installed a 22" led light bar just in case we are out at night and they don't work, but for now they just mainly don't work.
