I bought this van brand new in December 2010 and I thought I was free from costly repairs for a while. I replaced the rear rotors and had the brakes serviced at 22,723 km on Januay 2nd 2913. On January 3rd 2014 I had a 4 wheel brake inspection and was told that the front pads were approx 50% and the rear brakes were approx 60%.

I went to a dealer on March 25th 2014 for a brake inspection and was told that I had to replace the rear brake pads and the rear ROTORS!!!! The mileage on the van is 31367km. The rotors were in bad shape and I could see the imprint of the pads on the rotors so I had no choice but to replace them. I am not a happy customer and I wish that Dodge would take more responsibility for their clearly defective brake system and issue a recall.

The breaking system on the 2010 Caravan truly is worthy of a recall, and overall there is no fix to the problem only to keep replacing pads and rotors and of course the ceased calipers. Front/rear rotors and pads replaced at 10,000km, 19,000km, 32,000, and 54,000. The calipers cease, the rotors heat up/warp and the brake pads cease in the caliper brackets. The plastic is often melted on the calipers which shows that they are getting hot. My problem is the dealer keeps stating that they are not responsible for pads and rotors yet the calipers are under warranty? The sticking calipers is causing the problem, therefore Dodge should be covering this under warranty, or be professionals and make the recall. I constantly have sticking calipers and burning smell from the braking system new brakes or not. I can honestly say the level of customer service from Dodge was deplorable and truly a disappointment. If you buy a 2010 Caravan be prepared for the annual brake and caliper replacement. There is a reason why there was a back order for calipers for the 2010 Caravan.

We had a hard choice with 3 kids... and decided to trade our car for a van. Now that I think of it, we should of stayed with the car... cramped, but at least with peace of mind. This van is nothing but trouble. Broke at least 10 times in the last 2 years (its 3 years old). Anyway... back to the brake problems. We knew by buying this van, that the brakes were going to wear out fast as I red a lot of complaints on internet prior to getting this van. But for at least 13000$ less than the Sienna or Odyssey, I said to myself, if its only the brakes, its not that bad. Plus, I'm a slow rider, I let go of the gas when I see a red light on the horizon so I guessed the brakes would last a bit longer... Wrong, all 4 brakes needed replacement at 18000miles and the dealer told me its rare they see a van with 18000 with original brakes on. Wow... Stay tuned, I've got more repairs to post.

2nd time having problems with calipers/sliders sticking on rear left wheel. Cleaned right rear wheel brakes at same time.

Called Chrysler Canada to be told servicing is not under warranty and would have to pay ourselves. I told them I would be putting issue on the internet and that I didn't think it's right to have these problems when it comes to the very important safety issue and with only 35,818 km on the vehicle. Chrysler said that the warranty is only on rotors and pads for 20,000 km or 1 yr, or extended warranty of 40,000 km or 2 yrs. Now I'll be taking the same vehicle back in for front brakes this afternoon, having the same issues will be putting another complaint on the system when fixed. I will also be speaking to the owner of the dealership. Not happy about reliability of Dodge vehicles any longer.

Front brakes done under warranty March 2011 Back Brakes done under warranty March 19, 2012 Front Brakes done May 16, 2012 paid ourselves Back Brakes done November 4, 2013 paid ourselves

We have been doing their prevented maintenance since we bought this van brand new December 2010 Got our summer tires removed Oct. 30, 2013 and they put on our Winter Tires that day. Drove home to find within 30 minutes of a drive back, passenger tire smelled like rubber burning something smoking and heat coming from the rim..

Called back the service center at Hanover Chrysler Dealership around 4 just picked up the van at 3:00 where we have been dealing with Tom the service manger.. Was told to drive it back there tonight or first thing in morning.. Explained No need a tow truck... so was towed in and not looked into till late afternoon and than explains pads and rotors in rear need to be replace again the back passenger tire seized rotor shot so have to again be replaced. Being over the year warranty on the last back brakes since March 2012 have to pay them again for back breaks. Called Dodge and after a day got a case worker Tina and care # and she talked with their service at Hanover Chrysler Dodge In Hanover Ontario being the warranty on brakes are only a year, will not do anything so have to pay another 380.00 plus tax to have our Van fixed and back on the road... The Dodge complaint case worker Tina says have gone over our extended warranty which was up to 40,000 and have to deal with the service manager or owner being they are independent owned dealership . which was replaced in March 19, 2012 so over the one year warranty on these ones too. We have been complaining about the noise in back brakes for at least 6 months.. The van was taken in August 2013 and had them check out the back breaks OK. Just a test drive... Not good.. brakes on the Dodge Grand Caravan are NO Good in my mind and no one is going to stand up and take responsibility for them which has a problem And prevented Maintenance is no help just a waste of money and time... This should of been prevented when changing our tires and noticed or when we took the van in because of hearing squealing in rear tire... You decide to me unfair and unjust to be having 4 times a brake job and only had this van since Dec. 2010 so only three years this December ...Our Km yes are now 61,000 KM but this has been an on going thing with Brakes since we got this Van... Van bought in December 2010 and first brake problem March 2011 we only had this Van for 3 months.. Stand up Dodge and dealerships and do what is right

dodge needs to fix the problem that this van is having. I bought This 2010 Grand Caravan Dec 2010. Considering to keep jobs in north America alive. with in one year (10K Kms) the front brakes warp, Dealership changed changed it under warranty. received warranty letter form Chrysler for extending it for 1 year. Again Warp in warranty and get changed with in year and less than 12K kms. Now again with in 1 year and less than 9K kms breaks are pulsating.

what does Chrysler to pay me for this their engineer's fault. I should have got Honda or Toyota. Chrysler is a bog no for my life. they have done enough business with me my family and my friends.

We had service to our calipers a few months after purchase, now a year later we brought vehicle to local dealer and they mislead us saying it was a rotor problem. We brought it to another service and they told us the calipers were sticking and we had to wait because of a backlog for calipers. We finally got it fixed for $210 for one caliper and now two weeks later the other backside is squealing and overheating with a smell of burning brake. This is our fourth new vehicle from Chrysler and we don't deserve feeling mislead with only a 1 year warranty for new brakes.

The backlog for caliper reveals this a problem that is too common and a safety issue warranting a recall.

This unit has been a problem ever since I purchased it in April of 2010.

I had drove 60KM and required a new transmission. At 6100 KM the right front ball joint had to be replaced and this past week the left rear caliper at a cost of $190.00. The dealership under good will replaced the ball joint but would do nothing about the caliper. The caliper stuck while driving on a major highway this past week and could have resulted in an accident. I called around and found out Dodge not only has a known problem with brakes and calipers but have now extended the warranty of the bearings to 146000 km. Several people don't seem to know that the warranty for the bearings have been extended on their auto and as such tend to take then to another garage for repair.

This is my first Dodge product and it will be my last. I have had a number of cars in my past 50 years of driving and this is the first one that has cost me so much trouble.

I own a 2010 Grand Caravan. We had it brand new. At 8000K, had a squealing noise on the rear of vehicle. When we hit the brake pedal, noise stops. Just makes me sh*t because I bought it brand new, so I don't have to take a rendezvous to the mechanic... They changed brakes and rotors under warranty.

6 months and 11000K later, the same problem came again... same solution, changed pads and rotors under warranty

3 months later and only 2000K later, problem came again. But rear brakes were no more under warranty. So I just made the job myself. Put grease on pads and sleeves and a hole can of brake cleaner 1/2 each side, washed wheels and 10K later, same problem again.

Then at the dealer, they told me that there was a big amount of dirt falling down when they removed my wheels, and because of that my brakes where gone... They asked me if I've gone MUDDING with the van... They were kidding me!!! I've just removed everything yesterday to fix it and cleaned everything... It's impossible that dust could have been there!!

After having a god conversation with a few mechanics that don't work for Chrysler, I knew that they have a big problem with rear brakes... The only way to fix it yourself is to each month or so, service your pads with new grease, if not, by Jobber lifetime warranty brakes and be prepared to have them replaced often!!

My wife and I have had multiple problems with our 2010 Grand Caravan brakes since we bought it new. I've replaced the entire set once already, and now I get this squealing noise once the brakes are released from coming to a stop. It lasts for about ten seconds and goes away, but EVERYTIME WE STOP? This is ridiculous and the dealer checked the brake pads again and they look fine. I don't know if the calipers are hanging up but this car is hardly even broken in. I am reading on the web about many other Grand Caravan owners with similar Brake problems and I would think that Chrysler would start recalling this crap!

We purchased this van NEW, BRAND NEW in February 2011. There was less than 20 km on it. This vehicle is not our primary vehicle. I work from home, so most days it sits in the driveway. I'll use to run errands, fetch groceries, take kids to appointments, or Family Vacations. Sometime this past summer (July or August 2012) I noticed a kind of squeaking noise when driving. It never happened when touching the brakes and never happened when raining. At first I paid it no mind, but in August when it became more frequent, I called our Dealer and scheduled an apt. to have it checked out. In the days leading up to the apt. though, the noise disappeared, so I cancelled the appointment. YESTERDAY, I called our Dealership and booked an apt. for today as the noise has been happening long enough or frequent enough since August, I thought it definitely needs get checked out. I had small children with me when I drove the 1/2 hour out to the Dealership today. The noise, that was so prominent yesterday, was not to be heard the entire drive out there. A Tech took it for a test run and came back to make his report. I was in a nice waiting room with toys that were greatly entertaining the children. The lady from the service desk came in and told me "its the brakes" . She said the front brakes were quite worn but still had some use in them, but since they are still under warranty, she recommended replacing them. I agreed to that. Then she said the Back Brakes were in BAD shape, metal against metal. I was SHOCKED. There is only 25000 km on it. She quoted me a price of around $440.00 something to replace them. THEY were not covered under the Extended Warranty we have. Hmmmm, I told her I did NOT have that kind of money right now, so there was no way I could agree to the work. So she left, to go let her supervisor know we'd go ahead with the front brake repair. Meanwhile another customer in the waiting room began telling me THEY had the exact same problem with Front and Rear brakes on their van recently, that was also a fairly new vehicle. She said they paid for the repairs, but then called Chrysler Canada to complain that the brakes should never have worn out so soon. After a few phone calls, they were finally given a refund for the cost of the repairs by Chrysler. I then planned on calling Chrysler when I got home. Then a man in a dress shirt came by the Window from the hallway into the waiting room, seemed to look at me, then at the kids, then walked away. Soon after, the Service desk lady came back and told me her Manager was on the phone calling Chrysler to see if they would cover the cost of the Back Brake repair because my vehicle Was currently dangerous to drive with the current brakes, and he didn't want me driving home with the Children. Good news is Chrysler agreed to cover the cost of the repair as a courtesy. THANK GOODNESS. That did put them in my Good Books. My concern though, is WHAT caused them to wear so quickly? Will the same thing happen again with these now new brakes? And why wouldn't it have been covered under our Extended warranty that supposed to be bumper to bumper?

Rear brake pads were worn down to approximately 1/8 of and inch and rotors were wore down and scared.. The Van has only 26,600 miles on it. I feel this is premature wear out of these components.
