Interior panel lights will dim and flicker, headlights dim, radio will lose power, cabin fans for air conditioning will slow then the engine dies. This can happen while idling or driving at highway speeds without warning. When the engine dies all power steering is lost and braking and control is extremely difficult. After stopping the gear shift will not move into park and the key will not move to the off position for several minutes. Diagnosis narrowed this down to the TIPM. It was replaced and the issue stopped for 6 months then reoccurred. TIPM replacement again fixed the issue. Obviously the TIPM's have a defect and has been widely reported. Major issue is that only remanufactured TIPMS are available from the same defective build. Dealer charges over $1000 for the part and more to install it. There should be a class action lawsuit on this obvious dangerous defect that has not been addressed by Dodge.

When I am driving the car straight down the road, the car engine cuts off and the steering goes rigid and difficult to steer a I glide and pull the car to the side of the road. This has happened probably 30 times over the past 3 years. Twice (when the car was only a year or so old) the shifting has just slid out of place into another gear by itself. This is so so so dangerous. I have taken my car in to a mechanic several times. They have "fixed"issues trying to fix the problem, but I spend money on"fixes" that do not resolve this terribly frightening problem.

2010 Grand Caravan SE, bought 100000 miles the first week of driving headlights would go off while driving worked thew switch and came back on got me home now not working at all. I have read many many complaints of this on going problem both on this website and in other forums. Im stunned that nthsa will recall a vehicle for an emblem comiong loose on an airbag cover but with a serious saftey issue, life or death at night on a dark road there is no recall.

I recently purchased a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The car shuts off on me while driving. It will start back up after you put it in park and turn it back on but it just shuts off. It shut off on me twice on the highway with my kids in the car and four times while driving in the city.it makes this weird noise when turning left and the lights are flickering on and off. If that's not enough the doors seem to just open and close on there own the trunk shut on me while I was getting groceries out. I brought the car into the shop and they said they can't duplicate the shutting off and claimed they fixed the door opening in it's own problem.well the doors continue to open and now they are hard to open with the key and you have to manually open them. This is a safety concern and the dealer is claiming there is nothing wrong please help me.

Grand Caravan

Headlights failed after driving approximately 30 minutes. When turned off and back on, they would blink for two or three times the remain off. After about 30 minutes I returned to the car and they turned on normally and worked for about 9 miles before failing again. After about 5 minutes of restarting and retrying the lights they worked again for another 8 miles then failed again. Repeated process and was able to drive about 20 miles home with no more failures. Same failure occurred again yesterday (about 4 days after first incident). This time there were multiple failures in 12 miles. All failures occurred while the vehicle was in motion.

Beginning September 2017 to December 2017 (present): Multiple issues related to electrical: (1) engine stalled while driving at 30 mph (city street, driving straight), and lost power steering and brakes; (2) electrical system warning light has been coming on from September 2017 to December 2017 (present). Light often comes on when power window buttons are pressed; battery has been checked; alternator has been replaced twice (!) in December 2017 and warning light still comes on; (3) windows roll themselves down when vehicle is not running; this happened multiple times in winter and cold weather, there is no chance the window was left down by the driver; (4) head and tail lights blink when vehicle is not running; (5) rear seat power outlet not working; (6) rear defroster not working; (7) side mirror defrosters not working. Research into others with similar problems suggest defective tipm.

The tipm (totally integrated power module) is either defective, or damaged from weather exposure. Sparatic power issues are present causing odd things to go wrong, from the battery being drained, to backlight flickering on the dash, to upon exiting the vehicle attempting to lock vehicle to only have it unlock again, to also upon locking, having the front windows randomly go down.

Bought vehicle used from Kia dealership August 2016. March 2017 I started experiencing problems with headlights intermittently shutting off either before startup (while parked and ignition off) or during operation (while driving). All other electrical systems seemed fine including amber running lights, tail-lights, turn signals, and brake lights. Took vehicle to mechanic July 2017, no issues were found. No problems for 2 weeks, then started experiencing same problem. No recalls or solutions found at this time.

After starting my van, I will turn on my headlights and they will flicker on and then off really quick. This happens randomly. I will wait a few minutes and try again and the same thing will happen. I can flip the high beams on and they will flicker on and then right off. However, the fog lights will come on. I can usually sit and wait about 10 to 15 minutes and the lights will usually come on.

Grand Caravan

  • 88,000 miles
My head lights intermittently blink when I turn on my vehicle as well as when I'm driving down the road. The running lights still work but its the high and low beam lights. The lights will blink a few times then stay off. The vehicle can be in motion or sitting still. I have taken it to the dealer and researched online and it looks to be a required replacement of the tipm module which is a very expensive fix. Also looking at the online forums, it seems to be a problem with this module on a lot of vehicles. I have taken it to the dealership and they have diagnosed it to the tipm. I believe since this is an issue with multiple vehicles, Chrysler needs to recall these tipms since this is an issue with multiple people.

Grand Caravan

I have had my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan for 1 year. First the alternator went out then the key module then the transmission then the shifting harnesses cable and now the lights keep blinking on and off and the van feels like it has no power the battery was just changed a month ago. This has been the worst vehicle ever and we are scared that it is going to cause a deadly accident. The vehicle gets stuck in gears. And and now keeps shutting off and the headlights keep blinking on and off as well as all the lights in the van. If these are know issues why has there not been a total recall on all these vehicles before a deadly accident does happen. Or is it going to take someone to actually die before something is done about all the known issues the makers of these vehicles are aware of.

The headlights will come on and blink a few times and then go out and not come back on (sim and brights). Took to the dealer and they said they could not recreate the issue so nothing was wrong with it. Can cannot be driven at night or inclement weather. It has happened when stationary, driving through a neighborhood slowly, and when going down an interstate at 70 mph. When that happened other cars could not see me and I couldn't tell where the side of the road was to get off safely. When I made it to the shoulder I had to swerve back into traffic because luckily my eyes adjusted some and was able to see a bridge railing coming up. If not we would have hit it at about 60 miles per hour. I have read endless reports about this happening the same way and many believe it to be the tipm but no dealer or mechanic could give a definitive answer of what was actually causing it. First happened on July 1st 2016 and has happened off and on since then.

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact noticed that the headlights were not working. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the tipm failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Similar to other reports; vehicle will randomly lose power and/or stall. It has happened at slow speeds, stopped at a light, and even on the highway going 70mph. Have to take key out of ignition, wait a few seconds and turn back on and car starts up. Also now having issues to turn on. Lights on dash will blink and dim; radio shuts off; ebs, anti lock brake, engine light all begin to blink. Idle needles gets low. Power brakes lose function. We have owned the car since March 2016, car has 56000 miles. Taken to dealer a few times where the PCM was changed and issued not resolved. Changed faulty pulley on belt system and issue not resolved. Computer does not come back with any codes. Local mechanic checked for starter, alternator, ignition switch issues and all showing good. Vehicle is not part of Dodge recall of other 2010 that are having exact same issue.

While operating the vehicle, the interior lights, radio, air conditioner and windows become inoperable. The lights, radio, and air turn off, and the windows will not go up or down. The head lights still work, but the rest do not. Then they come back on out of nowhere. Then off and on and off and on... while sitting still and while driving. This has happened multiple times. And I fear it's going to start an electrical fire while we are in the vehicle.
