I want to talk to someone at Dodge/ Chrysler... Talking to" dealership "was not helpful.. ( Bring it in we'll look at it $$$$) He did acknowledge that he is aware that its happened before to others.( did you buy the extended warranty? ) How many times does this have to happen before Chrysler gets serious??

My biggest beef is that this could have seriously injured my 4 grandkids strapped in car seats.. shattered flying glass. ( thank God they weren't with us this time) I cleaned up glass pieces all the way to behind my drivers seat.

Is this a glass defect? A design defect? Several theories on line!!!

Anyone else have this problem and their solution?

2 days before Christmas I go out to finish my shopping. First stop of the day I come out of the store to find my rear window shattered. First thought is someone hit it, but the glass is all on the outside. The window blew out.

If you touch the glass it just crumbles into little pieces. Apparently this is something that happens, some say it has to do with cold and hot, some say its to do with the defrost and some say its a glass defect. Anyways $550 plus taxes to fix and a week wait to get an appointment because of the holiday.

We go in to get the glass done to find out they can't do it. Why, because of problems with our power locks we can't get the trunk to unlock and they have to be able to open the trunk to replace the glass. We previously had a diagnostic done on the power lock issue and were told it was probably a TIPM issue but no guarantee that would fix it. Now its going to be $1000+ to fix the TIPM so that we can hopefully open the trunk so that we an get the glass replaced.

Why wouldn't they have a backup way of unlocking the trunk if the power locks don't work?

Our power lock issues started the day we had the ignition recall done on our van. The power locks don't work on the passenger side and the trunk. The dealership says it has nothing to do with the ignition work they did and charged us for the diagnostic to tell us its probably the TIPM. Funny enough, our right rear signal hadn't been working and when they did the ignition recall that suddenly started working again.
