If the owners manual says to change the oil every 8,000 miles and I do it at 6,000, why is there a sludge buildup in the engine? Had code P0345 set in the computer for a cam position sensor circuit bank 2 sensor 1. Dealer looked at it and said the engine was sludged up and needed a new engine, that is why the code set.
The van has 114,442 miles on it. It's a 3.6 liter. I know of 2 other vans with the same problem but they had less than 100,000 miles on them and Chrysler refused to warranty the engines because of the sludge. Used engines with installation run about $4,000 to get installed. What a crock of bull dung! Never had that problem with the 2010 Grand Caravan with the oil filter on the bottom of the engine, and what's up with the "cheap" oil filter made of paper on the top of the engine? Looks just like the carb fuel filters from the '60s.
