The window lift motor cables broke back about March of 2014 and it has broken about 3 more times after that. The first time it broke they charged me 30 to 35 bucks to replace. Luckily I was there observing how he did it not knowing I would have to do this myself. This part is hard to replace. Snapping the plastic parts into its proper place is what I feel takes the longest.
Umm, I think that the cables that Auto Zone sells are a manufacturer defect. The material used is of low quality and they will break under all the stress or weight or whatever the reason the cables break in the first place. I don't think that its the way i installed them because once they are in, they're in. The lift motor works awesome, but it works for about 3 to 4 months then you start hearing the cables crackling inside until ultimately the window falls down. With this last install, I don't roll down the window if its not necessary.... It is a pain in the butt to replace every time, some of the edges are sharp so there's a potential for getting cut. Next time it breaks I will probably get the OEM replacement part.
