Grand Caravan CVP 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,343 miles

When turning the heater switch to the Floor only setting, no heat comes out. It bypasses and the hot / cold air goes to the windshield. Any other setting that combine with the floor will not work on the floor setting , but will work on whatever the other setting is. AC and rest of the heater settings work completely fine.

I was doing a little reading online and it probably is something up under the dash that's going to need replacing. So I'll have to look up to see if it's something i can tackle before winter fully hits ....it is now October 2018, the rest of the heater settings do work. How a car with such low mileage could have a problem is beyond me. But it being a Chrysler product is really all the answer I need.

Rant:

We purchased this car in July 2012 in Ontario Canada and has been nothing but a piece junk and headaches since we've owned it. Next car Toyota --- we've always been loyal to the big 3 and bought a new car about every 10 years.....no longer will that be the case. Transmission and so on with this pile of junk. And the worst part is there is such low miles on this car and it's had problems from day 1. No lemon laws in Canada and the resale on these vans is so low that we would have taken a major hit to ditch it.

I am thinking I might just buy a lotto ticket (hope to win) hire a demolition crew & film it and post on YouTube Man Blows Up 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan - Fed Up (I'd imagine that might get Chryslers attention --not that they would do anything about it )

Grand Caravan SE V6 Pentastar

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,525 miles

First noticed that in the winter when I'd warm up the car I'd get in and the vents would be blowing freezing even after 15 mins running and all 3 dials were directed to full heat. Figured it was because I was parking outside and it was normal. Never had it checked. If I turned off the ignition and opened the door to end power the heat will click on after 2 or 3 tries of that.

Since then I have moved and have heated parking. This still occurs on occasion Irritating for sure!

I bought my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan that same year(brand new). A few months later, my wife noticed that her side of the vents were blowing hot air. The thermostat are not working properly, no matter how you turn it to the coldest setting.

I had taken it to the dealership every year since 2012 and every time they told me it is already fixed. They had said it was some to do with the programming of the aircon/heater control systems.

This year it is happening again. I had been having problems with this minivan since I got this. These guys just don't know how to fix it and don't know what is going on. If you are planning to buy a car, don't buy a Dodge. Any ideas?

Grand Caravan SXT Plus 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,855 miles

Bought brand new in March 2012. Heat stops working intermittently on really cold days, the only way to fix it is to turn the car off and restart, or switch the temp controls over to cold and then back to hot.

First time it happened, brought to dealer, they removed the dash to attempt fix under warranty. Problem continues, then advised there is a problem with this that Chrysler knows about, engineers are working on a fix and to check back periodically to see if there is fix. In the meantime continue to use the turn to cold and back to hot solution, definitely annoying!

Fast forward to February 2014, and we are still dealing with this issue, wonder how many others are experiencing the same thing?

By the way, this year, dealer says they don't know anything about this problem, maybe I dreamed it?

Grand Caravan STX 4.0L

I purchased a brand new 2012 Grand Caravan approx 1 year ago. About 2-3 weeks after purchasing it my wife noticed her side was blowing cold air when mine was blowing heat. The 2nd and 3rd time this happened we took it to the dealer. They said they had heard of a few 2012's doing this and replaced the control head (recommended by Chrysler). About a week later it happened again...we called...they asked us to be patient while Chrysler tried to find a fix. By this time it was approx March...so the weather in Wisconsin was warming up.

Occasionally over the summer we would call and ask them if they had a solution...nothing. In November of this year we started to pursue it again...still no fix...we have escalated to Chrysler as a Star Complaint....it has been 2 months....still no fix. We just dropped it off at the dealer and told them to keep it until it gets fixed. I called Chrysler today who told me to keep working through the dealership and Sorry There is still no solution. Well I live in Wisconsin...today it was -10 when I got up. Not having heat is a safety issue on this van....I own two other Dodge vehicles and if things do not get fixed soon....they will be my last three. Even if they come up with a fix tomorrow...it has been a year...and all I get is lip service.
