2012 Dodge Caravan CVP (Canadian value package) SE - 3.6L, 6spd auto - 10,477 kilometers --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I took notice of this again with some other issues the car is having on the way back from a drive to the Chrysler Dealer when having it serviced. When stopped in the driveway or at traffic light and the engine is idling you can hear a sort of popping or tinging noise from the engine. Almost sounds like it might be an intake issue or something. But definitely coming from the engine. Sort of annoying. And a car with such little mileage shouldn't have this issue.

I am going to have to complain to the dealer about it.

This 2012 Caravan is starting to look like it's gonna have some big issues on the horizon.

Update from May 1, 2017: Had the torque converter replaced September 2017 and dealer mechanic & my own independent mechanic thought it was

Purge Valve Cannister i believe is how you say it.

Looking to have it fixed or diagnosed May 2017.

Update from May 30, 2017: (2012 Dodge Caravan CVP - 3.6L Pentastar, 6-Speed Auto 62TE Transmission , Stone White)

Had the car in at 2 dealers since new for popping noises, that are mainly noticeable at idle in gear in D. Some might describe it as a tick , i describe it as a popping noise.

This car has an extended warranty on the left cylinder head valve guides, from 5yr/100,000 kilometres to 10yr-240,000 kilometres on the left side only.

I am not sure if that's the problem and why this is doing it, but they say they checked out of the Purge Valve Canister which checked out ok.

It's quite annoying when it does it in traffic and definitely doesn't sound normal. I was in at the dealer i bought the van at in Ingersoll and of course 5 years after i originally complain they mention there's a star case about the engine.

I'm going to post the picture of the star case & the file # for people in case this helps fighting the dealers on warranty claims. I am looking into this for myself at the moment as there is only 1 month left of warranty with 23,6xx kilometres on the van as far as mileage. 5 years are up come june...and i am not going to trust Chrysler to help me after warranty is up.

Star Case # S1309000016 Release Date: 03/18/2014 Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Ticking Tapping Noise From Upper Engine Area With Possible Missfire DTC's

Update from May 30, 2017: (2012 Dodge Caravan CVP - 3.6L Pentastar, 6-Speed Auto 62TE Transmission , Stone White) 23,6xx kilometres -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have complained about a popping noise occurs at idle in gear since the van was new. In May 2017 i have been to 2 different chrysler dealers and neither can seem to find the issue. i don't know if it's caused by the valve guides or a purge valve canister or what ....but i have until June 30th for warranty on this pile of junk van.

I am posting the recall info for anyone else who might want to see it. There is an included photo.
