Bought this 2012 Dodge Caravan 1 month ago. Last week it stalled twice mid driving, once while slowing down nearing a stop light and once while driving highway speeds. Lucky I was able to find a large enough shoulder to pull over on and not cause an accident. Looks like this is a common issue, wondering what we can do to fix it/should this be recalled before lives are put at risk? not much confidence in our new vehicle.

Van has failed to turn on multiple times, park turn off vehicle and in as little as 10 minutes later it would not start. I replaced alternator and battery apparently after going to multiple mechanics that didn't find the problem with diagnostics I found out it was neither it was a faulty tipm. 6-8 months later started having issues with the car stalling out and having an issue turning back on. I have stalled on multiple occasions on the freeway I have contacted Dodge and the recall is not for my year of vehicle. Parts for this are expensive along with labor. Dodge needs to recall this issue because the last time this happened to me I was driving 60 mph on the freeway car behind me was close and my van stalled could of got hurt or killed and so could the other driver. Brakes need to be changed often as well more than I've ever had to change them for any other vehicle.

Van won't start. No noise at all when I turn the key. The symptom is just like trying to start a car with an automatic transmission while the car is in drive, or there's no sound at all (the van has always been Q inin park). Everything else powers up, radio, wipers, lights etc. The battery is new and the alternator is good. Dealership installed a new tipm and the car started for 1 week and died again. I'll never buy an american made vehicle again. Owned the van for 1 month and problem has happened 5 or 6 times previous to the last two times when the van wouldn't start at all.

The contact then took the vehicle to key Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram - tobey auto group (2020 N detroit St, xenia, oh 45385) where the dealer was able to diagnose the vehicle with a defective totally integrated power module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

We bought this van used about a year ago. It dies suddenly without any warning in the middle of the road regardless of any certain factors. I have researched this several times with many other complaints similar to this one. This is very dangerous for my family and I cannot believe there is no recall. I am a mother of 3 and cannot afford to pay upwards of 10,000$ to replace an ignition if this is the issue, I am not in any way a mechanic but I have read/heard that is most likely the problem. Dodge, please do what is right for the people who put their faith in your company every time they put their families in your vehicles and recall this immediately!

In the affected vehicles, the alternator may suddenly fail. I had the same thing happen to me; this should also be part of this recall. My battery light cam on at a stop and go light, 60 seconds latter, my car stalled because of dead battery and non working alternator. Fca stated go to the dealer for repair and not covered by the recall. Faulty timp causing issue with fuel pump module/relay. Faulty start and unable to turn on vehicle. This happened approximately 4 times in a parked position within a 24 hour period before vehicle was no longer drivable. Intermittent check engine light within the previous 3 weeks prior. Yesterday was driving on a highway at 55 mph and approaching an intersection at which I would need to turn off. The engine died without any warning at all. I lost power steering and power breaks. Fortunately, I was able to slow down enough to navigate the corner and came safely to a stop but had this happed on one of the windy sections of highway I could easily have crashed. I turned the key fully off and then restarted the van and carefully drove home. I noticed today that ignition switch does not always spring smoothly back to its run position when I start the vehicle.

The car was parked in the driveway. We attempting to turn the care on it just cranks and won't kick over. The fuse for the fuel pump has gone bad in the tipm. And the car now starts intermittently. I need to have a rely put in.

I went to unlock my vehicle to get something from inside. I noticed that the lights were very dim and after placing the key fob into the ignition, the fob was locked in place. After about 15 minutes, I was able to release it from the ignition. I have tried resetting the battery among other things and nothing has helped.

The vehicle either will take several attempts to start or will completely shut down during operation without warning. The engine will abruptly stall and power brakes and steering fail. Immediately afterward the vehicle behaves as if the key was just turned to the on position, meaning the dashboard lights up, and it can be put in neutral and restarted. No specific activity triggers the shutdown. It can happen while driving at any speed in any conditions or while idling.

I got an oil change and an inspection the inspection report was good, no major mechanical issues. Only recommendation was a power steering flush next time I came in for an oil change. I drove the van home 1/2 mile away. I parked the van. I saw light smoke coming from under the hood on the passenger side. It smelled like burnt rubber. I proceeded to drive back to shop 1/4 mile away. The van lost all power at a stop sign. I saw more darker smoke coming out. I got out of the van immediately. Within 2 minutes the vans front end was in flames.
