Another driver assisted her with the battery and the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive home. The following day, the contact attempted to restart the vehicle but the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that multiple unknown warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel while attempting to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

1st problem erratic ignition stalling while in park. Battery was replaced and taken to shop, the auto technician assumed based on P0128 P0520 P0441 it was gas fuel cap, switch oil pressure, housing thermostat, gasket intake manifold they replaced O2 sensors vacuum line read a sensor with evapo system causing check engine light came on and a host of other items checked gas cap totaled me $779. Car refuse to started next mornings for pass two weeks every morning several attempts to start car after parked overnight no start only stalling first. Then waited an hour put car in neutral see if car starts it did. After driving that day while driving car acceleration began to go fast by itself on a highway then jerk RPM dropped down while driving my children in the car. I thought maybe gear was out of place so I looked to see if it was in drive, it was in drive. Went back to auto shop they said since car is working now can't hook up system to check P codes because it won't show up if it's working.told me drive 60 miles to see prob continue. Next morning car didn't start, no fuse signal shows. Then car was dead one click sound, no stall. Called roadside assist and tried to jump battery. Guy said it's not battery he said it's the fuel pump. Contacted the auto mechanic spoke with mgr of shop and said it can be a tipm and cost $1200. This is a very unstable and unsafe issue my family and I drive in this van don't feel safe 2nd issue car hesitated to stop two months ago when I pressed the brakes to stop car while driving on road to stop at red light, no stop I had to pump brakes and I thought it was brakes I paid for replacement of brakes and pads as well. This electrical module has been the cause of known incidents. It can cause accidents. The van is dangerous safety hazard. Tipm and electrical system is creating unsafe braking and ignition fuel conditions causing malfunction

Took my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan to the tempe dealership to have the recalls fixed. Soon after they did the recalls my car would not drive off the lot they told me that the fuel pump was bad and it would cost $806 to fix it. So I told them lets do it. I get a call an the said its the tipm ! $1400 dollars later my car is still running pretty rough and not getting power and completely shut down while driving. So I call the dealer and they tow it in to tell me it is my fuel pump. So $800 they said its fixed and I should have nothing going wrong. 3 days later my check engine light comes on and a code P0456 evac leak! so I call the dealer and let them know. I then purchased a gas cap just to make sure that was not the problem. Light stayed on. So I get the van to the dealer and they had my van allday to say its my gas cap. Let me remind you I just purchased one. So they get the check engine light to go off and now everytime I fill the tank up gas fumes are soo strong in the vehicle and is running very poorly. Honestly im scared to have them look at it. I just want my van safe I have kids. Its my only vehicle.

I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan the sliding door has been making a buzzing sound every time you unlock and lock the doors. This has been happening since 2016 and the dealership told me it would be $500 to fix it. I am now having issues with trunk opening and closing on it's own; even when it is locked. Not safe at all and already got stormed inside of my van; cause I didn't realize it was opened. They told me I would have to pay the fee to get it looked at and then pay for the repairs. I had a new transmission put in at 74,330 miles after they told me when I left the first time; that it was a computer reset that needed done. Then, they had my van for 2 weeks trying to get the transmission built. And my transmission is slipping again. At 139,466 miles I had all of my transmissions lines leaking and had replace all of them for another $500; cause there was no warranty from them doing my second transmission. My cd player eats my cd's now and my ac quit working. All in all I do love my van, but I am getting very angry at all the issues; that should covered under a recall and they are not covered. If anyone could please give me some in site on these issues; I would appreciate it. I am not in the position to purchase another car at this time with jobs not very secure. I am not even able to take my van many places; cause I never know when the truck will open on its own and then someone can just steal my van. I listed the last day of all of my issues below, but this has been going on for years and still not resolved.

2015-2020 on approximately 45 occassions the fuel pump continues running after ignition shut-off. It then drains the battery which requires jump starting to keep from being stranded. 2015-2020 on multiple occassions (approximately 4 times)the fuel pump will not kick on at all leaving vehicle and driver/family stranded. 2020 3 times while driving the van just shut off. This has been going on for 6 years and now will not start at all. Researched and had it tested. It is the tipm. Totally integrated power module. This has been recalled in both Dodge durango and the Jeep. Many Dodge Caravan have the same problem. *refusal to recall due to undocumented complaints and requests is a failure to public safety. A quick internet search of issues regarding the tpim im Dodge Grand Caravan is proof enough to show that the fault lies as significantly with these vehicles as the durangos and Jeep. *** a new investigation should be conducted. I have sustained injuries in my neck and shoulders as a disabled person by having to raise and drop my hood to disconnect my battery terminal everywhere the vehicle sits on every occassion possible for 6 years to avoid intermittent battery drain and being stranded with my two young children. Is a gross disservice to consumers and public safety that this model has yet to be included in the tpim recall.

It has been determined that the ignition receiver does not support the size and weight of the key. Occurs on all roadways city roads highways etc... has happened multiple times.

Within the last week (May 8, 2020 - May 15, 2020) my van has suddenly stalled and died 3 different times. Incident 1 - driving on a 45 mph straight road when suddenly the engine died and lost power to all electrical components. After pulling off to the side and shutting the ignition completely off it started right back up and ran well. Incident 2 - driving on a 30 mph straight road. After just having crossed a bridge suddenly the engine died and lost power to all electrical components. Again, it started back up just fine and ran well. Incident 3 - pulled into a parking spot and placed the vehicle in park when the engine and electrical components shut off.

Fuel pump keeps running. It then kills the battery. The fuel pump will not kick on at all. When driving the van would just shut off. This has been going on for a few weeks and now will not start. Could you please look into it for us. The part to fix it could be up to 2000.

The vehicle died while driving down the highway at 65mph. I had to pull over on the side of a busy two lane highway and call a tow service. I had to have some fuses replaced and then replaced the battery. I was driving it five days later and it did the same thing. Luckily I was in my driveway this time. I checked the fuses and and everything looked good. I was able to start it back up and get it home. Both times this has happened I have had my 3 kids and girlfriend in the vehicle. This is a major safety issue that needs to be fixed. I have read online that multiple persons are having the same or similar issues. Best I can gather is it is a ignition switch issue. I am not sure what to do but I do not want to trade it in or sell it and put another family in danger.

We were driving down a crowded highway when everything on the vehicle shut down. All the lights shut off and we lost power steering. I had to fight my way over three lanes of traffic with no turn signals and had no power steering. When this happened we were going uphill and an 18 wheeler was behind us. We were rapidly slowing down and could have been hit by another vehicle. We came to a stop and put the vehicle in park and it started right back up. A few days later my wife had the same thing happen to her while driving on a dark roadway. She was able to come to a stop on the side of the road and restart the vehicle. There were no other cars around her at that time. R03/NHTSA 14V-373. Recalls Grand Caravan years 2008 to 2010. My problems sound and look exactly like this and seeing complaints around the internet it looks like many others with my year model are having the same issues. I think that recall needs to be extended to include the 2012 model year as well.

Well my wife was driving the van on the expressway way last year van just shuts off. It wouldnt start so I put my jumper cables on it and it fired right up a few days later we went to kmart in their for only a good 20 minutes the drive alone was about an hour and half come out and the battery was dead once aging. Go figure this was when kmart stopped selling bigger batteries. So I walked over to autozone and bought a new battery installed it and it started up. While we got home then had to leave aging to go get the kids from school the battery was dead know when I say dead through all of this I mean their was enough power to have the van doors open and lights on but not enough power to turn the engine over till it clicks. So hooked up to my truck jumped it.seem to drive fine so we went back to autozone and they changed it out with the warranty and tested it they said it was a good battery but to be on safe side. Well I started to drive the van I had to get jumped 4 times before I started to disconnect the battery when it was warm out the battery would last but on the cold nights the battery would still die. So one day I said srew it I went to drive it and it just would start believe it or not I only took off the air filter thinking maybe it clogged while I did that and tried starting it it back fired out through the intake causing a fire on the air filter box put it out said hell with it it's going to the Dodge dealer in wilkesboro nc I paid 1,700 to have the tipm replaced they said that's what was wrong with it so I said okay. Here it is a year later and now I am getting a little upset around the same time it went out last year and my van is starting to give me the same issues so I am going to hope that it isnt that but just to be on the safe side this is for last year and if I have to pay that price aging yes I'll be making a new complaint

Additionally, the fuel pump remained in operation even after the ignition was turned off. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer mike anderson Chrysler (417 S. 3rd St. Logansport, in.) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Van just shuts completely off steering and brakes lock. But once car stops put into park its able to start right back up again...I have read online recall on ignition switch but only on Dodge Grand Caravan 2008-2010.. I think it should be extended because it is happening with mine which is a 2012. Mechanic can't find any error codes.

Very dangerous! have looked up the issue in Dodge forums and it's a known issue that could possibly have something to do with the tipm on many Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep vehicles. It's an intermittent issue. Had dropped off my kids at school and went to put van into park and van died but on its own came back on. Loses power intermittently while driving on freeway. Can even hear loss of power through the heater/ac unit. Please fix this issue before someone is killed! only way to prove is to let a mechanic/ Dodge drive it around and let them find out the hard way. Issue occurs when going O or any speed.

While driving, the car stalls, but some electrical lights stay on. The speedometer drops to zero, the gas pedal does nothing, the power brakes stop but can brake with a lot of foot pressure, the power steering stops but can turn the wheel with arm strength, the left and right blinkers won't work, but hazard lights do work. The heater fan stops. But the lights in the dash stay on. This is scary because it can happen at any moment. We have been fortunate to be in an area where we can pull over without an accident... so far. This ignition switch electrical problem appears to have a recall on other Dodge vehicles, but not the 2012 Caravan. My mechanic has quoted a fix price of over $600 which is hitting us hard in the wallet. Please encourage Dodge to include the Caravan in this recall. Peoples lives are at stake. This has been happening at least 3-5 times per week, starting in the fall of 2019.
