Grand Caravan CVP 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,510 miles

2012 Dodge Caravan Canadian Value Package / SE Purchased new

3.6L - 6spd auto , 10,477 kilometers as of March 24, 2015 (that mileage is correct)

-------------------------------

Our 2012 Caravan I've noticed Stutters or shakes when putting the car in reverse. So for example. Had it into the Dealer today for an oil change etc. Took a country drive to visit a friend & when leaving their driveway/laneway I put in reverse and had my foot on the brake while saying goodbye ...so I had my foot on the brake with the car in reverse for a 3 minutes, I could feel the engine /car stutter. Once I put my foot on the gas pedal in reverse it went away & back in gear forward also not there. I've noticed this before and just chalked it up to it was cold out.

Well today wasn't that cold. This transmission & Dodge is not inspiring confidence at all so far since we bought it.

I should mention today the car was on an incline on a hilly driveway. But prior we had started the car and then shut it off and talked in the driveway for 5min, got back in started it back up, I put it in reverse & that's when the stutter situation I referenced happened. And it will do the same on a level surface as well.

Not good Chrysler/Dodge. Not good.

Update from Sep 16, 2016: Met a lady at Shoppers Drug Mart (ontario canada) back in August 2016 and she said her car dodge caravan (same model/generation /6 spd ) also stutters in reverse.

Took our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan (CVP- canada value package / 3.6Lv6 & 6spd auto)

to the dealer September 2016 and took the tech out to replicate the issue and he told me that that is an issue they have seen come up (didn't gave any solution to it)

Had it in later in the week and they found a UNDERDRIVE COMPOUNDER an issue with the transmission.

They will be fixing it next week. Hopefully it will solve the issue.

If you do some googling the Caravan Transmission - 62TE 6spd seems to be fairly common with the 62TE 6spd Underdrive Compounder failures

Will be posting the Cost under warranty & all the information once it's fixed in a week or so.

This van only has 19,xxx kilometers (canada) on it. And i am worried we are gonna get burned on this transmission. Only has 5yr , 100,000km warranty which runs out in July 2017.

Grand Caravan SXT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 0 miles

I have been to the dealer several several times over and over and they can't seem to fix it. half the time the foreman tells me it's normal but then they go ahead and decide to replace my two cylinder heads. Go figure. is extremely annoying and embarrassing to drive this car brand new and have all these shuttering problems. on top of that when there is a lot of wind outside and I am on the highway, my AC vents or somewhere in the dashboard it starts to squeal. and it's a very annoying sound. does not stop unless I slow down it seems is related to wind up in coming into the into the engine Ordash somewhere

Grand Caravan RT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 600 miles

Grand Caravan purchased Feb 2012-- under 1300 miles as of Sept 2012. Car began to "stutter" (Dodge term for progressively awful noise and tremor) in May. Dealer Heritage Parksville MD lied, told me Dodges are just noisy nothing wrong. Went to another dealer service. Serious programming flaws found effecting transmission & fuel distribution. Dodge knows about programming flaws will not disclose or notify buyers. Rejected my complaint. Just filed 2nd complaint--since service car has had failure of back-up camera, transmission is starting to jerk, headlights failed on an unlighted little back country road because service personnel disabled automatic on.

Service Department did "PC flash" which they claimed fixed transmission programming but did not tell me that changes all optional settings back to factory defaults--no disclosure or notice to buyer. Dodge Corporate also did not tell of revision to factory defaults when I complained the fix left a residual problem. Heritage refuses to take car back and reimburse. Vehicle is defective & should never have been sold.
