We bought the Van in August 2016. It has been a great vehicle for the 2 months that we have had it. I was backing the van out of the garage with my family on Tuesday (10/18/2016) afternoon and the airbag light came on. I had just adjusted the tilt on the steering wheel when it came on. Took it to a Dealer the next afternoon and was told that I needed to make an appointment because it was not "Life Threatening". But,remember when the light is on the airbags are off so, I guess it depends upon what you consider "Life Threatening".. Ironically, while waiting for a Service Tech, I received notice that Fiat Chrysler was recalling 224,000 Jeep Wranglers for airbag issues. Took the vehicle back today (10/20/2016) for an "appointment"and was told it would be $115.00 for them to do the diagnostics. $115 !!!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS TO JUST PLUG A COMPUTER INTO THE VEHICLE. Yes, my vehicle was out of the measly 36,000 mile warranty period (52,286) but still, with as many airbag and electrical issues Fiat Chrysler has had lately there should be NO CHARGES when it comes to Safety Components on any vehicle. Did find out that it could be a wiring connection under the passenger seat. Did not fix the issue though but, I did notice that the wiring harness was made in China (Wonder??). Before this Grand we have had 1 other Grand, 1 T&C, 2 LHSs and 1 Jeep Cherokee with no, yes, NO airbag issues. Our kids have also had / have 2 Neons and 1 Breeze with NO airbag issues. My first car was a 66 Plymouth Belvedere with a 318 3 speed on the column along with a Coronet and an Imperial setting in the family driveway so, I have been a long time Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth fan.... Very disappointed with Fiat Chrysler right now.
