failure

The transmission died while I was on the highway by myself. I had to stop, start, move 50 feet at a time until I was able to get it off the highway and into the parking lot. My husband had to drive across the state to come and get me. From there we had to have it towed to a transmission shop in another city because the city where it died did not have anyone who did transmission repairs. Thank goodness for the amazing auto repair guy I talked to on the phone in town who had a recommendation for me. The car is currently across the state awaiting a transmission to be shipped to the transmission store. $5,200!!!!! Once repaired, we have to drive 3 hours to retrieve the vehicle and another 3 hours home. The vehicle has 56,001 miles on it. I guess it was that last mile that did it. The guy from the transmission shop said the Dodge Caravans have been keeping him busy. Hmmm. Would love to know if there's a number to start with at Chrysler to start registering a complaint. This is nonsense!

Grand Caravan SXT 3.6L

The last Dodge I'll ever buy. I'm the third person I've met that has had to do a complete transmission rebuild under 100k miles on these awful cars.

Grand Caravan 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,864 miles

I purchased a Dodge Grand Caravan 2017 March 28th 2017 Sunday May 7th 2017 I was driving down the highway and the van accelerated I tried to put the brakes on which barely worked I was able to take an off-ramp and shut the vehicle off. Thank God I am a professional driver and I was able to react properly or I could have died Monday May 8th I spoke with Gareth the salesman I purchase a vehicle from and he referred me to the service department Tuesday May 9th I drop the vehicle off at the service department and they gave me a rental Thursday May 11th they called and said the van was ready to pick up that there was a manufacturer defect a filter had not been seated properly in the transmission cause failure and damage to the transmission to the point they had to redo all the gears and redo most of the transmission. When I seen the work ordet they had to do on the vehicle I couldn't believe this could have killed me a brand new vehicle To make a long story short I had to return the vehicle for them to reset some computer components because the locks were not engaging till 5 minutes down the road I asked them to give me a replacement vehicle mine was 3000 km they explain to me that now i have a used vehicle. Funny they sold it to me for $40,000 and said they would give me $26,000 for a trade in and the other trade-in I had was lost of $12,000 and then they could put me in the exact same vehicle for $5,000 cash up front. I explain to them I was terrified to drive this vehicle the other half has been driving it and I drive his. I have spoke to Chrysler Canada twice they told me there's nothing they can do except call the dealer and make sure that they continue to fix this vehicle and inconvenience me. I have also spoke to a lawyer which is a dead end so now I'm coming to you because now this is the third time I have issues before the first oil change I have 4500 km on the vehicle I took the vehicle yesterday because I had to pick up a large piece first time I've driven it since we got it back as I was driving down the highway when i step on the gas the RPM's went up higher than they should have like the clutch is slipping which is supposed to be brand new AGAIN And also when you put it from park into first it makes a funny noise and clunks into gear and does the exact same thing when you put it into reverse. I have no idea where the turn I don't know who can help me but they should not be able to get away with this
