problem #2

Feb 092024

Grand Caravan GT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,500 miles

Viewed a video about the typical No. 2 cylinder issue. Coolant is leaking out thru cylinder and fouling plug. This is a major issue with expense of somewhere between $4500 and $8,000. If FCA/Chrysler/Stellantis knew about this issue, why should I get stuck with the poor design??

Like a bunch of others, cylinder#2 misfire. Runs rough, especially at idle. I replaced the coil and all the plugs. No improvement. From what I understand this is a casting issue with the cylinder head from the factory and has been ongoing for about 10 years. There was a recall for 2011-2013 models for similar issue with an extended warranty issued, but nothing after that to my knowledge. 6 years later, still having the same problem. The cylinder head replacement is thousands of dollars if they can find a remanufactured head. Dodge website shows these cylinder heads as discontinued. I cannot believe they can get away with selling these vehicles with almost a decade of the same problem. The recommended fix is actually a new motor. I can't even imagine what that will cost. Surely more than its worth.
