After an oil change and winter check-up at Goodyear, oil light flickered, or stayed on briefly, while idling and at slow speeds. Touching the gas slightly eliminated the problem. The light never came on at highway speeds and only after the car had warmed up. My mechanic ran a gauge on the car for an hour and a half, drove it around, and proclaimed my oil pressure more than sufficient. After three days, another oil change, and three different after-market oil pressure switches, the light is gone. My mechanic recommended, and tried to order, a switch from the dealership, but it was in the days before Christmas and dealerships were closed. He believes the after-market switches were the issue, and after the third different brand finally did the job, I think he was right.

i bought a 1997 dodge because my truck has engine problems, just as a way to get around. Before i bought it, it ran fine but after three days the check engine light came on and the the oil light began to flicker. The check light test said that it was the o2 sensors which i replaced. This didn't work and my brother who is a mechanic said that he works on these sorry dodges all the time and they have the same problem. The oil sending unit gets clogged with oil and malfunctions. this part is cheap and i will see if this will help. This is why i always drive chevies because they are the best. Parts are cheap not like dodge and fords which breakdown often.
