problem #11

Intrepid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

Like everyone else, my weather stripping was coming off, but it was a little more than that. On one door, it had shrunk and peeled off, so it was impossible to just glue back. On the other one, it turned into paper and started flaking (which is quite nice when you have kids that sit and pick at it even more). I am so tired of problems with my car, I go out of my way to make sure my friends NEVER buy one!

its a nice interior until you see the stripping hanging all over. it looks sloppy and creates a whistling noise when your doing some serious highway mile, so annoying.

Intrepid 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission

Weather stripping falling off cause wind noise let's the weather in Hot or Cold and ruins the ride. Doesnt sound like much but it will ruin the ride/feel of the car.

Intrepid ES 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

The 2000 Dodge Intrepid has been one of the best cars I have ever had. A few of the door locks needed replacement and I just replaced the door seals that shrunk like all of them did. These are definitely minor issues in a car that has been excellent over the past 7.5 years and 115k miles. A fun to drive big car!

This first happened when the vehicle was still under warranty. However, the problem continues and after a while, you just say the heck with it.

I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT STARTED, BUT THE TRIM AROUND THE DOORS IS LIKE SHRINKING!!!! WHAT THE HELL? NOW MY KIDS ARE CONSTANTLY PULLING IT OFF, AND PLAYING WITH IT. IT LOOKS LIKE SH*T ALSO. AND I NOTICED THE ROAD NOISE IS MUCH WORSE .... I HATE MY CAR.

Intrepid 2.7L V6

  • 60,000 miles

Had to have the dealer come out to fix the weather stripping coming off, they did fix, but the stripping did the same thing about 4 - 5 months later. I actually ended up fixing it the 2nd time, myself, by pulling some of the stripping up and creating a gap down by the floor/door, but at least it wasn't up by the window/door, so everyone could see it and it was falling off in their face. The 2000 Dodge Intrepid is a good design, but poorly put together by Dodge (also see engine problems for 2000 Dodge Intrepid, DON'T BUY THIS CAR)

The weather stripping has come loose on both back doors. I took some ordinary super glue and fixed the problem. It seems to be holding up rather well.

If it was one door, thats one thing but for the weather striping coming off all 4 doors and I was the only one in the car, come on. But with the problem with the engine this was minor. The whole car is a LEMON!!!!!!

All they had to do was make it a little longer and glue it a little more. I've seen this on a lot of them to. I'd brought it in for it once and wasnt happy to have it come back off the next day. You kind of just forget about it after a while.
