Intrepid SE 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Tried to install car seat in the back of my Intrepid. Because the Gen 3 buckles' button protrudes from rest of the buckle, it will unlatch at the slightest bump. Even following the directions with the car seat manufacturer, the buckles would unlatch. I can't begin to imagine what would happen in a crash. My boys are now 8 years and 2 yrs.Took Gen 2 buckles out of Dynasty to replace the rear ones with. Can't find a similar fix for the ones in the front seat as the buckles to Dynasty attach to floor. Intrepid ones attach to seat. As a result I have to drive with the armrest down to help keep from bumping the buckles. I am going to trash this car for this and many more reasons because it is very unsafe. Chrysler will not recall the buckles even though they failed a standard test. By the way, if anyone tries this "fix" remember that I have no control over the way you do it. There are risks associated with any mods to the seat belt system. The Gen 2 buckles work only because the inner working are the same as the Gen 3. I bear no responsibility for your actions, this is for informative purposes only . Better to get rid of the car affected.
