Intrepid SE 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

The oil light came on (oil was full) and it flickered on and off when I would speed up it would go away, when I slowed down or stopped it would turn on. A lot of people online said their engine blew up shortly after this. if this happens get it fixed RIGHT AWAY. Its a cheap part, easy to do, saves the engine from blowing up! Car was fine ever since, until now but that's a whole new complaint! :-/

Intrepid SE 2.7v

  • Automatic transmission
  • 138,000 miles

Bought a 2003 Dodge Intrepid in 2005 at 108,000 miles. Had minor problems with the car until 2008 when all hell broke loose. I'd noticed that the oil light would flicker off and on every now and then but didn't think much of it since I was told by the dealership that this was a common problem and since I took good care of the car, I should not worry about it. One night, while on my way to work, I heard a loud continuous clanking and the engine light came on. The car sputtered and then just died. It all boiled down to the timing (chain) that had broke. And that was the start of a long line of major repairs for this piece of crap car. I will never recommend or buy another Dodge - ever!!

Intrepid Dodge 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 121,222 miles

The oil engine bucket light flickers on and off when I come to a stop light.

On 12/31/2010, I got out of my car to shop at a grocery store. When I came back, my car would not start. I called AAA three times. I was advised on every occasion to let the car engine run for about half hour. On every occasion the car died on me. The third AAA driver stated that the core problem was a loose plus battery cable wire. He cleaned it up and jump started my car.

Since then my car died on me again. A friend gave me a jump again.

With economic time I am afraid my car may die down on me again. I will never recommend this car again to anyone. It is a real nightmare for me and my family.

Intrepid 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 162,000 miles

I bought my 2003 Dodge Intrepid in 2004 with @ 45,000 miles. It now has 162,000 miles. I have maintained the car well and apart from those cost along with some belts etc. the things you expect from a vehicle with this mileage. However, recently the engine light has come on and continued to stay on. The first time it was the cam sensor , crank sensor for 188.00, then plugs, coil pack, boot for 330.00 and now the light is on again.....I was expecting another year or so from this car...but it seems I should make other plans!

Intrepid SE 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,345 miles

I also have a 2003 Dodge Intrepid. I had to replace so far the Camshaft Position Sensor, Crankshaft Position Sensor, Map Sensor and now I don't have heat all the time and the oil light flickers on and off when I come to a stop light. All of these problems from what I have been reading is indication my engine is going to go sooner than later. April this year I would have the car for a year. Runs good but I know sooner than later major problems are coming. This is my 5th Chrysler vehicle, had a Plymouth Voyager, Horizon, Town and Country, Stratus and now this piece of junk. Never again would I buy a Dodge product. And if there is a lawsuit I would really like to know. Because there is definitley a flaw. Oh and yeh, I maintain the car like if its one of my own children. Oil changes you name it. 3000 miles
