We had the unfortunate misfortune of buying not one but two dodge/chrysler automobiles my intrepid and my daughters stratus that both had the 2.7L engines. We had to put transmissions in both and 6 months later the engine lights were on. Both cars had to be sold for junk. I will NEVER OWN another dodge!!!!

This car when i first got it was a good running car but when it hit 70000 miles it started to have oil problems. The car started to act slugish and i always changed the oil when i was suppose to. I was on my way to Florida to pick my kids up for xmas and the damn engine started to nock and ting so i started to pull over and the car shut off and no lights came on to tell me there was any kind of problem with it. I was 250 miles away from home when it broke down i had it towed to a garage and they said my engine was fried. So im pretty pissed off i still have two years to pay it off and its still in Maryland and i have to go git it. It is that damn 2.7L V6 engine in the 2003 Dodge Intrepid. It seems like they are having alot of problems with that engine. To git it fixxed is gonna be more then what the car is worth. So i think that dodge should have to pay for it and a new engine and the cost of the labor.

Car was great for a long time. Bought brand new. Was out driving and the oil light came on about 5 minutes later it just shut down. Checked oil, none registered on the dip stick. Put 2 quarts of oil in and after about 3 times of trying to start it up it started back up. I'm thinking cool its alright after all. Wrong!!!! A few minutes later oil light came on again. So my thoughts are to get it home. Well didn't make it . It started knocking, louder and louder. Found out later the only way to fix was a new motor or a used one.that really sucks!!!!! Now I am stumped I don't know what to do. Anyone know where to go next? I just owe 9 more months till its paid off. How about that. really stinks!!! . I think there ought to be something someone could do about this.Any answers? A very upset owner!!!!!

Whoever designed this engine should be lynched or made to drive an intrepid that is over 80,000 miles! The water pump & timing belt go out together and then the oil sludge kicks in and causes total engine failure with no warning. Dodge is aware of this "design flaw" but thinks 1,000,000 complaints is not a wide spread problem.

THE DODGE COMPANY REALLY KNOWS HOW TO TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. THEY HAVE CONSISTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE 2.7L V6 ENGINE AND ARE WELL AWARE OF IT BUT THEY DON'T CARE THEY JUST PASS IT OFF AND MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE CLAIMS THAT ARE SUCCESSFULLY WON. I REMEMBER A TIME WHEN SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH A COMPANIES PRODUCT THEY TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT AND FIXED THE PROBLEM.
