(reported on)

Intrepid SE 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 117,000 miles

Bought this car 3 days ago. Parked it in the driveway and the next morning I found two drops of oil about 2 inches apart. After cleaning off the bottom of the engine and looking for leaks, I narrowed it down to a sensor/adapter on the engine the is right above the oil filter. Not sure what it is (thermostat?) yet. But, it only leaks when the engine is running. I start the engine and immediately the plug/adapter starts to for a drop of oil on it. I'm in the Navy and I just returned from duty in South Korea for the past 14 months. I needed a vehicle to drive down to San Diego and get me around reliably in the San Diego area. After reading about the engine oil sludge issue... I may not have the right car. Guess I'll have to change the oil more often than the recommended 3 months. Dodge needs to accept responsibility for this issue and recall the car. Looks like they stopped making the Intrepid in 2004 for a good reason!
