The brakes have been replaced both front and back on this car. Now the fronts have started to cause the steering wheel to shake when braking. What kind of materials is Chrysler using in these solutions?

This is the worst car ever dodge has made. Come on dodge us buyers pay lots of money for your JUNK and you would think Dodge would recall such a problem vs. someone having an accident because there brakes became faulty and then decided to sue dodge. Been a loyal dodge customer for years and all I ask is you help fix your FAULTY brake system to protect the lives riding in the car!!!!!

Brakes shouldn't wear out that fast. I'm not mario andretti, and I treat my car like a queen. This sounded like a cat being dragged across a chalkboard to it's death. Seriously though, I had to get these replaced twice in about 5 months. I guess the shop had OEM parts from china.

More indication of the sh*tty build quality of these vehicles. Replacing brakes after only 20000 kms. Due to the dealership believing that its a wear and tear item, there are no warrantees on brakes, but this is really pathetic.

I certainly will NOT be recommending ANYONE buy Dodge....

Update from Jul 28, 2013: Do yourself a favor and go to an independent garge and get them to put in a new set of pads that have a decent warrantee....The problem with Chrysler is , if you argue enough they will replace the brakes....but they put in the same kind of sh*t you just had in there, that wore out too prematurely..!

My car shakes so badly while I am braking. I could not understand why since we recently replaced the brakes. Come to find out it is a manufacturing issue. Bad flaw when this is a family car. Very disappointed in the manufacturer for not coming up with a true solution.

SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

Upon our last service visit to the Dodge agency where we bought the car,, we were told we would need new brake pads and resurfacing of rotors the next visit and we still had 5% left on brake pads.. When we asked why at 26,000 miles,, they said it was a big , heavy car... Now that i have researched I find it is a manufacturing problem...We are retired, I bought this car as my last car purchase,, I didnt expect I would have to pay for new brakes every 11,000 to 20,000 miles.. This is a design defect,, and their responsibility.

They should redesign and correct it or at least pay for any damage repairs each time..

If I take my family, (children and spouses) anywhere,, with the extra weight,, does this mean we are in danger of the brakes failing and a possible fatal accident occuring?

I bought an american made car in 2009 when the agencies were in danger of closing or asking the government for financial hand outs,, I had planned to buy foreign made... This is the thanks we get, dodge not stepping up and taking responsibility? How about giving me another year journey, afterall < i only have 26,000 miles on this one..???

Thanks...

Had my dodge journey 2009 in for serves only to find out that all four rotors were warped, and all brake pads were completely wore out.said it was caused by the calipers sticking on, and lack of lubrication. was normal wear and tear so nothing was covered by warranty. I also had 6 year extended warranty. My dodge journey only has 20758 km.The repairs cost 1098.00 I think dodge should be paying for this problem. I am so mad with the treatment i have received not to say the 1098.00 bill that i can not afford. I will be selling my dodge never to buy another.

The car shakes and shimmeys so bad that you think it is going off road or tires are falling off. Replaced brakes for 394 after only 11000 miles after new brakes and rotors in Nov 2011 from Dealer. Told not covered anymore because of milage. Said would cost 1000 for rotors so skipped those, told us will see again in about a year for another set of brake pads.

How can something so new be so bad...I had a chyrsler van for 12 years and never had this type of trouble, never knew this kind of site was available.

When I purchased the vehicle two years ago, I asked the dealer to replace the brakes (39,000 miles). I was told there were 60% remaining on the brakes. Well, 20,000 miles later the brakes were completely gone, to the tune of $725 worth of rotors pads, etc.

Journey LX 2.3L

The Rotor plates are badly designed and cannot take the load other vehicle, they have been refurbished and replaced on four occasions in the 50 k warranty period, the defect has not been corrected to date.

Chrysler now wants to be paid for replacement of the rotor plates that never met its expectation.

My beef is that I paid for a new vehicle believing Chrysler claims and support to make me a satisfied customer. Unfortunately i have not come anywhere close to that expectation and have lost over 20 work days chasing this problem.

Chrysler must recall the 2009 Journey and fix the rotor plate problem

Journey ES V6

I would not recommend the Dodge Journey to anyone. I had to have all four tires replace shortly after the warranty expired and couldn't afford having the breaks and rotors replaced until today (a year later, 12/01/2012) due to uneven pad ware and premature rotor wear far below industry safety standards. The mechanics indicated that they were surprised that I did not experience complete brake failure. I still need to have the parking brake cable replaced due to an unexpected and unwarranted shearing of the same. Almost $900 in repairs and I still need to get the parking break repaired (replaced). This vehicle is deliberately designed to expire shortly after the warranty. It might be made in the United States but it is assembled by "union entitled" employees.

girlfriend's 09 damn a dodge journey. 3 sets of pads in a year. New rear rotors @ 49,000 miles. tires are a nightmare. 19 inch and expensive. We replace rims with used journey 17 inch rims, and will be putting a lite duty truck tire on the vehicle. The vehicle weighs to much for a P rated tire. Replace with LT rated tire. All 4 tires went bad with bad belts. The next brake job will be with drilled and slotted rotors, and ceramic brake pads. We are looking @ a new rotor that is much bigger and has huge pads. But cost 350 each for the conversion. Trade in on a 09 damn a dodge journey is only 10,000.

This will be her last Chrysler product. We have not had any luck with the dealers. They will not fix the brakes!!! One set of pads started squealing with only 1500 miles on them. Replaced pads as they were cracked from heat and glazed. They had less than a 1/16 inch of wear on them and already bad. Do not use cheap pads!!!
