I've replaced the brakes and took a good 2 1/2 hrs have replaced the battery the ignition has given me problems a couple of times and now with the recalls and possible engine dying while driving has scared the he'll out of my wife and she's afraid to drive the car we're looking into getting an other car but because we are still paying on this one don't know what kind of deal we can get especially with all the problems we're having with it makes it harder to get a good deal really need help on what to do plus to add to the problem the tire pressure light is on and I have had my tires checked and the light continues to come on and that doesn't make the situation with the wife any better we would really love to get help in getting rid of the journey before something really BAD happens cause I don't want my wife and son or grandkids in the car and have engine failure in the middle of a busy street or highway and cause an accident just the thought of something like that happening is DEVASTATING I HAVE GOT TO GET RID OF THIS JOURNEY PLEASE HELP!!

Journey 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,994 miles

second time the brakes have failed. first time listed above at about 22,000 miles. dealer replaced disks and turned the rotors. now just 3,500 miles more and they have to be replaced again. the car pulses and grinds with putting on the brakes. dealer has ordered parts and will change rotors next week or so. i sure hope and will make sure pads are changed at the same time. i cant afford to trade in the car but i consider brakes to be more important than just about any system on the car. lets see wireing harness changed. passanger door wouldnt lock, drivers side mirror woundnt move. if it was painted yellow i would know what to do but as i am on disability i really cant get rid of it and buy another model. chrysler will get a phone call form me next week for sure

Journey

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,600 miles

I would think that after 36,000 miles the car would not need new brake pads all around and new front rotors. The dealership told me the rotors were very thin in the front and need to be replaced. $600 later, I picked up my car today and it seems fine but if I have to replace the brakes every 36,000 miles I'm going to try to unload this piece of crap soon. I agree with other owners; the seats are hard and uncomfortable, they stain VERY easily.

Journey SXT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,504 miles

On my 2009 Dodge Journey I had to replace the front pads and rotors due to excessive wear with only 19,504miles. The vehicle is back in the dealer, this time to have the rear pads and rotors replaced at 21,687 miles. This is a complete joke that complete front and rear break jobs have to be done so soon. In my research on this, i have noticed a class action lawsuit has been filed in NJ & CA for in adequate brake system on the 2009 Dodge Journey.

PULSATIONS WHEN BRAKING AGAIN. 19,248 MILES LATER THAT THE LAST ISSUE. NEEDED TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED TO RESURFACE, MY COST THIS TIME. REALLY TIRED OF THIS BRAKE AND ROTOR PROBLEM. CONSIDERING THE POSSIBILITY OF GETTING SOMETHING ELSE EVEN THOUGH I LIKE MY JOURNEY. WHATS TO SAY THAT ANOTHER 15,000-20,000 I WILL BE FACED WITH THE SAME REPAIRS PLUS REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS YET AGAIN. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

NOW HERE IT IS 10,782 MILES LATER AND ALL THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEED REPLACING. EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TEAR. WHEN I WAS BRAKING I WOULD HAVE PULSATION OR VIBRATION. REALLY UPSET THAT HERE I AM AGAIN HAVING TO DEAL WITH BRAKES AND ROTORS. NOT GOOD. DEALER WANTED ME TO PAY TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AND I SAID NO WAY. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE TO GO THRU THIS MANY BRAKES AND ROTORS SO SOON. THEY FINALLY REPLACED AT NO COST.

AFTER PAYING OVER $26,000.00 FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND TO HAVE THE BRAKES IN THE FRONT GO BAD IS VERY UPSETTING AND DISTURBING. THE DEALER DID REPLACE THEM AT NO COST BUT THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED. I HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES THAT I ONLY HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES AND OR ROTORS AFTER 60,000 OR MORE MILES. WHAT IS THE DEAL?

Journey

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,000 miles

This is the 3rd time I have had to get the brakes fixed. My car has 41,000 miles on it and the first time it had less than 10,000. I will never purchase a Dodge product again. I am letting all my family and friends know about the issues with this car. It seems to me that with other people having the same problems over and over Dodge would get their engineers to look at the specs and figure out why this keeps happening, They need to do some kind of recall and take care of it. I think I am going to write a letter to the CEO of Dodge and let him know that there are a lot of customers that are not happy with this car. Maybe that will do something.

Journey SXT 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,292 miles

Yearly inspection, brought the new Journey to my dearler, to my surprise, the pads did not pass inspection !!! So they wanted me to pay, but after sharing my views, disapointment, aggravation they kinda told me that they finally were able to pass it on the warranty. 2 mths after, Chrysler sent the letter concerning the brake pad extention warranty. Ya sure, they really did me a favor and passed it on the warranty. I bought this vehicle thinking that I would only have to pay a monthly payment and not worry about the stress of having repair bills all the time and finally have a vehicle maintenance free for a few years but here I am with a monthly payment plus have to put money aside for repairs. Being a simple mom, sole income, sometimes that is not easy !!!!! Will have to try and get rid of this lemon and buy a GM as I always had in the past !!!

Journey R/T

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,624 miles

I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey R/T on 2/18/09. The vehicle was a demo, driven by the dealer's wife, and had 6,510 miles and came with a new car warranty. On 1/21/10, with 21,624 miles, I replaced the warped front rotors and pads at a cost to me of $300.56. On 8/6/10, at 29,723 miles, I replaced the front rotors and pads again - no cost to me this time because my mechanic (obviously not a Dodge or Chrysler Corp. employee) said they were still under his warranty and should not have warped. On 2/23/11, at 38, 529 miles, I replaced the rear disc pads. On 8/16/11 I ordered front rotors and pads on the net that have a lifetime warranty against warp and cracking - something Chrysler can't figure out how to do. Installed cost was $280.63, mileage at installation was 45,561. Total on brakes in 2 1/2 years: $739.13. Amount covered by Chrysler: $0.00. By comparison, I have a 2001 Ford Explorer, bought new, with well over 100,000 miles. I have replaced the front rotors once. Lesson learned: This is my third Dodge vehicle, all bought new. I will never buy another Chrysler product again.
