The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I (and several other owners of a Dodge Journey vehicle) have noticed the horn sounding randomly. Myself and others with the same complaint believe it to be a faulty/failing Horn Contact Switch, located in the steering wheel. (I believe it is MOPAR part # 5189428AC ) The safety concern is that horn sounds randomly. When this happens while stopped at red lights, motorists in front of me tend to rapidly accelerate into cross traffic. I believe the safety concern is self explanatory. As it is a random occurrence, it has not been confirmed by a dealership. (Though there are countless videos posted to YouTube as well as complaints posted to message boards.) There are no warning lamps or indications that a connection is faulty/failing. According to my research, this has been an ongoing issue for Dodge Journey owners for several years.

Horn honks randomly will driving or turned off/parked. Windows go up/down on their own. Locks/unlocks. wipers turn on/off. Emergency flashers turn on/blink all on their own. Appears to be an issue with security system. Replaced TIPM and still having issues with all of the above. My truck is dead every day, replaced battery twice & crack shaft sensor, still having issues. There is a ticking noise and sounds like my truck is trying to turn itself on without the key in the ignition. Airbag light will not go off. This vehicle is 13 years old and Dodge needs to do a recall for all the issues people are reporting.

Brake system has ongoing and continuous defects, malfunctions and failure. I have had calipers fall off and pr stick causing the wheel to overheat and melt the tire rim. Replaced all that. Brakes never seem strong enough to properly stop this vehicle safely. Brake lights stay off and on light a Christmas tree. Had several inspections for code errors. Replace entire system in January of 2023. $1,800. Less than 500 miles later, another caliper sticks, then snaps causing entire break assembly to move, damaging yet another wheel rim. I love this vehicle. The room, style. But it's not safe. I've almost caused an accident on the road 3 times due to this useless brake system. This last incident put me in a ditch. It's still in the mechanics shoo. Severe wheel damage this time.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,199.

The contact stated that the failure was draining the battery and the battery was replaced several times. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and shut off while driving on three different occasions. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and jumpstarted the vehicle with assistance. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred increasingly and the vehicle failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) module was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Too many electrical problems, the key fob, the ignition won't start until several tries I've had a new starter put in but constantly told it's the electrical component, the car shift gears on its own, told again it's the tcm module electrical problems, the batter dies within a year of getting a new one. Abs system problems, crank shaft system problems, the horn beeps on its own, it's so bad I have to remove chip at night so my neighbors don't complain..once again told by everyone that it's an electrical programing problem that I have to go to Dodge dealer to fix..I don't understand he how come I have to spend so much money for them to keep fixing electric problems. WE PURCHASED OUR 2010 DODGE JOURNEY FROM AN AUCTION. RIGHT AWAY THERE WERE ALL SORTS OF ELECTRONIC ISSUES WITH VARIOUS BELLS & WHISTLES. MOST OF THESE WERE SOLVED ONCE WE PURCHASED A NEW FOB & HAD IT PROGRAMMED. HOWEVER, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE HORN WILL BLOW WITHOUT TOUCHING THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WILL BLOW WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF, DOES NOT MATTER. MY HUSBAND HAD TO DISCONNECT THE HORN UNDER THE HOOD IN ORDER TO GET IT TO STOP. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND WHY THE HORN WILL NOT STOP BLOWING. I DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THE VEHICLE NEEDS AN UPDATE, HOWEVER, AFTER MUCH RESEARCHING ON THE WEB MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE UPDATE COMPLETED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE HORN ISSUES STARTED AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER, MANY MUCH SOONER. OUR VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY ANYONE ELSE. ALSO, THERE ARE NO WARNING LAMPS IN REGARDS TO THE HORN THAT HAVE COME ON. WE ARE LOOKING INTO HAVING A SEPARATE HORN INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE, DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE. DODGE NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL IN REGARDS TO THIS HORN ISSUE THAT COULD COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE, IT'S QUITE UNBELIEVABLE THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO. For many years (at least 8) this SUV has experienced odd, electrical issues (1) on at least 4 occasions I have found all windows lowered halfway when coming out to the car in the morning. (3) about 18 months ago, while parked frequently at night, the horn would start honking. It appeared the alarm system was responding. The remote would not turn it off. Car needed key inserted and to be started. Finally it started randomly blowing while I was driving. I removed fuses to stop issue. (4) recently, overnight, the relatively new (less than a year) battery would be dead in morning. No lights left on. Alternator working. On the 2nd occasion I noticed when jumped the turn indicator was blinking despite not being turned on. This was the first time I decided to seek service help as a dead battery every morning is not just a minor problem. Vehicle current at garage.

The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Drove to the park, parked the car. Went for a walk, came back 20 minutes later, car would not start. Turn the key, no sound, all dash light come one, car will not crank, no sound at all. towed the car to my house, and charged battery for a full day. Car same issue, will not crank, no noise. I turn the key to on, press on the brake and move to neutral, and car still no start. I use the remote starter, and car just clicks a few times and does not start. Basically turning the key to start, lights come on as usual, then no noise no crank no start. this is third day of trying to start this car, never had issues with it for over a year, and never with starting car. No warnings at all, no lights on to show anything bad before this, and no warning after it happened, scanner show no faulty codes detected. From the park waited to be towed and got home after 10 PM, safety, it got dark, it rained and unreliable to just not start.
