We just bought this car on Apr. 26, 2010. For the last couple of weeks, It sounded like something was rubbing under the front end while taking any turns. We figured there was just a loose skid plate or something. Now for the last week, When you first turn on the car (1st time each day, not multiple) it makes a very loud noise from the engine and still sounds like something is rubbing or like a belt is going bad, I don't know. It gets really bad/loud when you 1st turn it on while still having the parking brake on and turn the wheel either direction. And it will continue on like this for the 1st 5-10 minutes. We have yet to go to the dealer because of financial issues and are unsure if it is covered with them under the warranty...this dealership we bought it at has a bad reputation for a service department. Our car only has 4,000 miles on it, when we bought it, it was new but had 1,000 miles on it. I wonder if someone had already turned it in due to this and then Benny Boyd just covered it up and sold it as new... Calling dealership today. The problem still persists with the loud screeching/rubbing noise when you make a turn and no we never "Hot Dog" the car because we respect ourselves and our belongings. My husband thinks it is a bad power steering pump or something. In a brand new car??? C'mon. I've had 3 brand new cars before, of course none of which where Dodge's, but still...none of them ever developed a problem even within the 1st year of driving it. Maybe they call it DODGE for a reason... Dodge It!!!! And after reading many complaints about our dealership (after the fact), the service department has a lot of complaints and how can you expect someone to believe you when they say "It just needs to be broke in", its not leather shoes/jackets. It's a car and should be ready to go, hence all of the factory testing on each individual car made...right??? Also, they said to many people it was covered under the warranty at first but then turned around a stuck them with the bill claiming it was not... that dealership is bad juju. I've always been a Toyota fan since 2002. The 2002 MR2 Spyder was perfect, so was the 2006 Tundra, and the Matrix. This is my first Dodge and this is what I get? I'm sorry I ever let my 2008 Tundra go for this just because I needed a family car with spunk (Cross Over). And I paid $30,000 for this piece of junk. Dodge's are over priced and obviously have many issues. I'm not a mechanic but I know when something is wrong. I just don't know if it the suspension, engine, steering... whatever it is, it's embarrassing to be driving a brand new vehicle that sounds crappy inside and outside of the car. And I've only had this car for 2 months!!!
