TL * the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while making a right turn at 25 mph, the vehicle jerked and made a popping noise, and the driver's front wheel separated from the vehicle. The failure caused the contact to lose control of the steering wheel and to crash into a vehicle in the left lane, damaging the passenger side front bumper. The city of columbus police department report number was C-278012. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who inspected the vehicle and located the failure as a broken drivers side front axle which caused the wheel to separate. The manufacturer engineer investigation concluded that the failure was not a defect, but it was caused by driver impact. There was no mention of injuries.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current miles were 40,000.
