February 4, 2016 my wife was driving our 2012 Dodge Journey to the shopping center. It was a clear, sunny day. She turned off of the main road onto an access road through one shopping/dining area and leading to another shopping center, her destination. As she was passing the first area, a lady was planning to cross over four lanes to get to a restaurant. The lady shot across hitting our Journey just in front of the left rear wheel. It caused our Journey to spin and roll. We were not surprised that the front air bags did not deploy because there was no contact with the front bumper but neither did the curtain airbags deploy. My wife hit her head twice causing a brain bruise which required two CT scans and an overnight stay in the hospital.
Our rant is, why didn't the side curtain impact bag deploy since she was struck in the side and the vehicle rolled on its top?
