lunged from reverse to drive

As I was parking my car I put the car into reverse and it lunged forward as if it was in drive. Of course we hit another car. I checked and the car was still in reverse. Thankfully there was no one walking near us when this happened! So basically now I'm scared to put the car in reverse. I see online that there are cars jumping out of drive but not reverse. I also don't see a recall for this problem. Loving this car....not!
