Journey SXT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,811 miles

So, I bought the Journey SXT (AWD) in June 2013 with 18,217 miles on it. September 24, 2014, a growling noise started in the front. At the time of the front bearing replacements (had them both done), I had 59,811 miles on it. They covered them under some sort of one time only Chrysler warranty, so I only had to pay 100.00 deductible for them. January 30, 2015, there was a growling noise coming from the back. It was the right rear wheel bearing. That cost me 371.33. The left rear bearing to my knowledge has never been replaced. This car is my daily driver and I put nearly 100 miles a day on it to-from work.

Now, it is February 20, 2017 and I have 127,440 miles on my Journey. The growling is back in the front. I am conservatively estimating 700.00 to get the fronts replaced AGAIN!

Is this just a problem with the AWDs? My folks have had Chrysler mini vans (FWD) and my son had an Avenger (FWD) and they NEVER put wheel bearings in them! I called Chrysler and was told too bad. You are out of any warranty. I am a bit aggravated...because I know I need struts/shocks in the back regardless.

I still have a few payments to make on it...and am considering getting a Pacifica off lease. Will they have the same bearing issues?

Journey SXT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60 miles

The day we bought it, it pulled to the right. We kept taking it back to the garage & they said the alignment was within specs, nothing was wrong. Shortly after that they ended up changing my brakes, rotors & calipers. By then my tires were ruined and we had to buy 4 new tires!! Finally, they ended up changing both ball barrings out & now the right side is bad again but now the warranty is out on it so we'll have to pay out of pocket fully for this one. The garage said the barrings were bad right out of the factory but it's only been a year since the 2nd barring was changed & it's bad already!!!
