My 2013 Dodge Journey is just one of thousands of Dodge/Chrysler/GM vehicles to have transmission failures with this type of engine (3.6L V6) and transmission (62TE). These transmission units are exorbitantly expensive and fail time and again paired with these engines on vehicles such as CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, 200, AVENGER, JOURNEY. This was a serious misstep and miscalculation by these companies, and they are costing their customers thousands upon thousands of dollars. Dodge and Chrysler (now Stellantis) should be held accountable, especially since they are now a conglomerate of the most consistently unreliable vehicles (Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Ram, Fiat).

our 2013 dodge journey has been fixed three times off for the driveshaft. The mechanic shop keeps stating that the bolts are falling out and they have no reason to give us. We have to purchase the boats from that dealership in the cost a good amount of money, and we-??ve only had the car for about four years

In the past 3 years I have had my transmission go out on my vehicle 3 times. All 3 times I was driving when it happened and my car just stopped shifting or would not shift past 2nd gear. I have spoken to numerous mechanics about this issue, and every single one has told me that is a know issue with my specific type of dodge. It is an extreme safety issue to be getting on the freeway and have your transmission suddenly stop working. It is also ridiculous that consumers should have to come out of pocket 5K every 20,000 miles or so to fix or replace a defective transmission that dodge refuses to deal with. I contacted Dodge customer service to try and get my transmission fixed and was told that since they have not recalled it, they will not help me cover the cost. What I don't understand is why they have not issued a recall. If dodge service centers know about the issue, then dodge corporation should, and they should have dealt with this year's ago. I have documentation of the first 2 repairs, and an estimate for this latest one but can not include them from the device I am on.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Journey. The contact stated initially noticed that power steering fluid was leaking onto his driveway. The contact also stated that while driving at slower speeds, extra effort was needed to steer the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V273000 (Steering) however, the Vin was not included. Additionally, he also stated that while his wife was at stop light, the vehicle shut-off while accelerating. The contact stated that his wife was unaware if any warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. She was able to immediately restart the vehicle and resume normal driving. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Thus the 4th time win thin a 2 year period that my 2013 Dodge Journey let me sit. Time 1&2 battery need to be replaced, a costly bill. 3rd time the fuse blew. All 3 times my cars check engine light came on & a weeks let me sit. As of Jan. 8, again my car leaving me, engine light came on & a weeks later left me sit. Not sure what to do at this point, I'm unemployed & have a car payment, I can't afford a costly repair. This seems to be a general problem with the Journeys, why on earth aren't you recalling them. I know that it would be costly, but at least you might have happy customers. I'm thinking of surrendering the vehicle due to this continuous no start problem. My next step is to file a complaint with Chrysler capital.

While driving 75mph on the highway the car suddenly lost power, losing all gas pedal function. I had my children in the vehicle and was driving in heavy traffic. This is a huge safety issue! after getting pulled over, once the car was turned off it would no longer restart. The car would not even go into neutral without using the bypass switch, which is how we got it on the tow truck. The dealership dug into the problem and found that the flex plate between the engine and transmission completely broke, something they flat out said should not happen. After researching the issue, I found that not only is this a very common problem among several models of Chrysler (minivan) and Dodge (Ram and Journey), but it has been an issue for many years in their V6 vehicles (back to 2006). The flex plate itself has been manufactured too thin and is not made safely, as the fix entails installing an aftermarket, much thicher, flex plate. This proves that there is a manufacturer defect in the original product. Even worse, this failure can cause major transmission problems. Not only is Dodge risking my family's safety, but they risk the safety of other drivers traveling near any of their thousands of faulty vehicles, and the tow truck drivers who have to tow the broken down vehicles. I've spoken to Dodge multiple times and all the want to tell me is that my car is out of warranty at 100,000. Dodge builds cars to break down after 100,000; at 110, 000 to be exact and I am not alone on this issue. Dodge needs to be held accountable for producing safer vehicles and not knowingly pushing cheap parts through manufacturing.

Transmission unexpectedly downshifts at any speeds causing the engine to red line and the speed governor cuts off the fuel causing the vehicle to stall. The only way to resolve the problem is to restart the engine. Have almost been rear ended on more than one occasion.

Something has gone very wrong in my transmission. Possibly tork converter or a pump causing 2 error codes and a huge winding noise upon starting the vehicle. The error codes are P083B for the tfps and P0944 hydraulic pressure unit. My car is 2013 and was purchased on April 7th with 44,011 miles on it. I have since put 14000 miles on it with the needed and proper oil changes every 5000 miles. I was driving and started hearing a high pitched winding noise. I started to head to someplace I would be able to park and stopped at a red light. Once it turned green I proceeded to press on thr gas and the car didnt move rather slid backward almost hitting the car behind me. I had my 3 year old in the car properly restrained in the correct car seat but it was scary. I then had it towed to a transmission shop and got a diagnosis of needing to rebuild my transmission. So a 2013 Dodge Journey needs the transmission rebuilt at 58K miles.

We have taken our vehicle into the local Dodge dealership at least 5 times since August 2016 for the same safety concerns of jerking and stalling while driving on city streets. The most recent episode occurred today. We have had multiple near miss accidents due to the stalling. The dealership has charged us almost $2000 over these last 3 years. These charges have included replacement of tires, batteries and sensors without resolution of problem. Please help us resolve this issue for the safety of the passengers who are travelling in our vehicle and those who are driving around us. Thank you.

2013 Dodge Journey has transmission shifting problems from a stop to a start. The Journey was taken to our local Chrysler dealership. They test drove the vehicle and said the transmission was overfilled. They drained some fluid out and test drove. My receipt for the vehicle states at the bottom found flash that had an update for ppm which was directly related to shifting issues. Ran ppm update and performed a quick learn on transmi7 ssion which set all settings back to default on transmission. I will be taking the vehicle back to Chrysler dealership again transmission slips still about 4 too 8 seconds between 1st and second gear. Sometimes when I am on a steep hill it might roll backwards if their isn't enough speed from transmission slip. This vehicle can cause a accident their is a lot of complaints about the transmission on this vehicle.

I have owned my Dodge Journey since May 2013, and after two years I began to have problems. The vehicle does not pick up and go. At times when the vehicle is in idling mode (like if I am sitting at a traffic light) it acts as if it wants to stop. On other occasions the vehicle acts as if it wants to stop, even if I am in drive or just sitting in park. I recently had a tune and the battery replaced. I am still having the same problem! however, it's even worse now because the vehicle constantly shakes and wants to stop while I am caught up in traffic, which is very dangerous (especially when I have my children and dogs in the vehicle with me). I want this issue resolved. I bring my vehicle in for regular maintenance as required, and when I mentioned the issue to my service advisor at the Dodge dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle, they told me it's because the vehicle is getting old. The most recent incident of the vehicle shaking and wanting to stop occurred yesterday afternoon while I was driving down hwy I-64. Because of all of these issues I am never buying a Dodge again.
