The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. Within less than a year of owning the vehicle, the traction control and ABS warning indicators flashed. Also, the brake pedal seized when it was depressed and an abnormal noise was heard. The contact had to ease off of the brake pedal when making a stop and then cautiously apply the brake pedal again. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer issued NHTSA campaign number: 15V675000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic); however, the contact was uncertain if the vehicle was included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

At first, when I started the car, it had trouble turning on, so I waited a while to try again and it did. While I was driving it smelled like something was burning and I noticed that both the ABS and brake light when off. I pulled over on the side of the highway and turned off the car. I go to turn it on again and it just didn't after that.

Two days ago my ABS and ESC light came on, I have also noticed since then I have no cruise control. In the winter here the roads are quite sick, and the antilock brakes that are on this vehicle no longer function. When I was driving into work and came to a stop light, I tried to stop and kept sliding as a result.

This car has just a little over 33145 miles and I just found out that the rotors on the back have rusted so bad that they wore out the back bracks and cannot be turned down they have to be replaced. I had my grandchildren in this car less than 2 weeks ago and my car was inspected in August by a Dodge dealer and then I took it back on 8/28/17 because the brake light was on they said the brakes were fine I have it on the invoice front brakes 10/32 80% and 7/32 60% but they said they were fine there no way that rusted in 2 months to that point. I will have midas take a picture of those rotors when they fix my car tomorrow $600 for car repairs this week alone. Dodge need to pay for my rotors and labor and they are refusing because I will not take it back to the dealer. I will not have mine or my families lives risked again. I am done with Dodge two brand new Dodge Journeys in 4 years and major problems with the brakes, low headlight beams and electrical issues not to mention 2 recalls. I just found out today all this

I own a 2014 Dodge Journey with about 51K miles on it. Since yesterday, this vehicle has been shutting off and stalling while I am driving. The radio will flicker on and off and the instrument cluster will show all warning lights in a flashing manner, after a few seconds of that, the car will completely turn off while still in drive. On October 3rd, I was making a right turn, and the vehicle shut off mid turn. The brakes became stiff, lost the ability to steer the wheel and also lost functionality to my hazards. This morning, I was driving this same vehicle to my local Dodge/Chrysler dealership and the car once again shut off on me. This time I was in the process of taking off from a red light when the vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection. Again, I lost the ability to even use my hazards. I am going to have it towed to my local dealership within the next few hours.

Complaints involving idler pulley and brake system. On June 4, 2017, while driving on the interstate, my steering wheel locked up. I was able to pull to the side of the road and then the car started malfunctioning. It completely died and would not start. I found out from the dealership on June 5, 2017 that the issue was related to the idler pulley crumbling which in-turn caused the serpentine belt to break. On July 9, 2017, I was at a stop light on the I-10 frontage road. When the light turned green, I could not go because the brakes locked up. I had to put the car in park, turn it off and then turn it back on in order for the brakes to loosen up. To say I'm frustrated with Dodge is an understatement. During both instances, my 8-yr old daughter was in the car with me. I've only had this car for three years, it isn't paid off and I'm having these problems that could potentially be life threatening. A recall needs to happen with this vehicle!!!

Journey 4-cyl

  • miles
The contact owned a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the dealer repaired the vehicle per NHTSA campaign number: 15V675000 (electronic stability control and service brakes, hydraulic). After the repair, there was a loss of vehicle stability and no traction while driving on the highway during inclement weather. The contact felt as if the recall remedy failed to provide a solution, which resulted in a crash. While driving approximately 65 mph on the highway, there was a sudden loss of power and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle crashed into a wall and flipped upside down. The driver sustained head, neck, and lower back pains. The front passenger was suspended upside down, restrained in the seat belt, and had to be cut out of the vehicle by a responder. The rear passengers sustained bruising and whiplash from the impact. One of the two rear passengers was medevacked due to the injuries sustained. The curtain air bags deployed after the crash. The front driver and passenger side air bags later deployed with a low level of deflation and a smoke residue filled the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A police report was filed. The insurance company provided no inspection and diagnosis to determine what caused the crash. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures and the crash. The failure mileage was not available.

Owned this 'vehicle' for almost a year (13,500 miles - had some miles from dealer). Brakes have been replaced twice due to master cylinder and related issues. Additional five recalls on top of that - one related but not included in the actual recall because I haven't had an accident... yet....was being unable to disengage the seat belt - on a normal day - every day. I am now on my 2nd senior supervisor at Chevrolet telling them to come pick the thing up. Naturally Chevy's stance is to keep repairing the vehicle - not call it what it is, a bad product and take it back. So, multiple trips to different Chevy repair shops, all setup by Chevy customer service of course, and quite frankly I prefer the loaner vehicles because at least you don't have to stand on the brakes to keep it from rolling forward...or backward on a hill...or keep two car lengths behind because emergency braking is not an option. Trade in value is less than half what I paid, and I'm afraid the next owner might be seriously injured. My grandmother and my son won't ride in it...rest of the family doesn't want to even try after hearing the stories. So, don't buy one of these vehicles. Chevy will not stand behind their product, and admit when they manufacture an accident waiting to happen. All vehicles have recalls. I've owned 5 Chevy's. never again. Actually considering letting them repo the vehicle just to get rid of it. Buyer beware.

I received two recalls on the above vehicle. The first says the engine beauty cover may come loose and come in contact with catalytic converter resulting in a fire. The second has to do with a ground wire on the right front shock of the anti-lock brake module. The wire allows water to wick through into the ABS module which can disable the ABS and/or the electronic stability control. The lack of functioning ABS and/or ESC systems could change the braking and/or handling characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning.
