Journey SXT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

Severe oil leak at the oil filter housing due to a crack. This is a known issue that is especially bad with ANY 2014 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine. Chrysler-Fiat redesigned the housing for 2015 model year after redesigning it for 2014. The initial redesign was a dismal failure.

There seems to be a general lack of intelligence in the C-F Engineering group, who managed to design a component with routine maintenance requirements, make it out of plastic, then bury it under the intake manifold. The top of the engine has to come off, and you can't even get to the coolant drain valve without spending an hour removing 24 fasteners holding the bottom shroud on the radiator.

$1500 for the repair? I'm just letting it drip for now, as I'm getting several hundred miles per quart. The large drip spot of oil under your vehicle even has a name: Pentastar Puddle
