I took my car in for an engine knocking noise and was told that my motor needs to be replace. I was told that they have recalled all the other motors that were made during this time period but mine is not part of the recall. They have attempted it is a known issue with the cylinder that were put in the 2.4 L motors but will not help me in fixing the issue because they don't have my motor on recall. My is the E5 and the motors that they have recalled are the E4 and E6 motors that were put into the Jeeps and the Chrysler but they have not recalled the Dodges motors. Consumer have found out that these motors in fact have two recalls on them. The recall number is W80 and W84. They have found that the cylinder O-rings are bad, and this is confirmed with the with the notice that was sent with NHTSA ID # 10138863 with the manufacture communication number 9003357. Dodge is still refusing to fix the issue and replace the motor.

2017 Dodge Journey oil filter housing leak. Vehicle is persistent leaking oil. Chrysler Dodge dealer claims there are 40,000 orders for this part in waiting and that the timetable for getting a replacement part is indefinite. Their suggestion is to keep refilling with oil for the foreseeable future. They state the part may eventually be a recalled but is not yet. I find it hard to believe with so many known problems that it's not been recalled already. Additionally it's a $700 repair for a known issue.

My Dodge Journey had transmission failure along with the gas tank not being able to fill up to the F. my car jerked to move forward and the gas pedal would not cause the car to move forward. I brought the car to a Dodge dealership and they took about a week and a half to fix it. Here I am one week later having the same issue and needing to bring it back to refix the issue. There is a lot of complaints on the internet about this same issue and having to have the same transmission issues return for fixing two to three times before the car is fixed right. This is a beautiful car but a transmission issue that needs several fixes before the car even reaches 1200000 miles to change transmission fluid is not a good look. The transmission need to be recalled and new transmissions should be given to people who own this brand of vehicle. I only have one car and need this vehicle to put food on my table for my family during a never ending pandemic at that. The transmission on these vehicles are not reliable even after fixing.

Follow-up to #11289608 on 12/17/2019; the dealer performed a service bulletin #18-078-17 & PCM update, #181906sz as recommended by star technician. States vehicle functioning as designed. Two different dealerships have been unable to duplicate issues. Vehicle ran great 12/19 until may18, 2020. On 2-hr trip, vehicle stalled 4 times-no warning. In drive-thru line waiting, engine cut off - car wouldn't start. Towed to local dealership, rocky top cdjr in kodak, tn - diagnostics code PO171 for sensor - not covered, my dime for $273. Drove home - no issues. On 5/21/2020, car started right up after filling up, then died - not vacuum issue. Tow truck driver put car in neutral manually to tow to dealership. Service advisor told of issues. On 5/25/2020, service advisor called-technician found the fuel pump losing pressure. Fuel pump module and fuel pressure module replaced under goodwill. Ran perfectly, no issue. On 6/11/2020, started up then died. Transmission temperature gauge hot, but no actual temperature shown. A reminder that plagued intermittently in 2019 and posted in first complaint to nhtsb and fca. Car towed once again to rocky top cdjr in kodak, tn - technician says fuel pump no longer working. Two weeks old and now not working. Part is back ordered till end of month?! now, have rental on my dime. Today, 6/16/2020, spoke to fifth (5th) reported fca case manager on continuing problems. No longer trust vehicle and deeply concerned for my safety because vehicle has yet to be fixed. Have found other NHTSA complaints disturbingly similar from 2018, 2019 and 2020: #11113660 (ca), next 3 are ga, same car #11243797, #11244334, #11245530 and #11317210 (fl). Always asked if the vehicle is fixed...I do not know until it's no longer giving me problems. My vehicle is still not fixed...there is something internally wrong with this model!!!

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the transmission temperature gauge indicated that it was too hot to start. The contact stated that it could take ten to thirty minutes for the vehicle to cool down. The contact stated that the failure occurred five times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to smoky mountain Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (556 highlands rd, franklin, nc 28734, (828) 369-5003), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, the vehicle stalled and was taken to the same dealer; however, a failure code could not be located. The dealer performed a flash to the system, but the vehicle was not repaired. The stalling failure occurred once. This is a follow-up to 11244334 and 11243797. For background, the 2017 Journey began stalling intermittently and not throwing a code (starting at about 23,500 miles). The stalling occurred during all driving conditions and speeds. The dealership could not reproduce the event and told me to drive until it throws a code. After 6,000 miles and hundreds of stalls the vehicle finally threw a code, (29,500 miles, P0335 crankshaft position sensor). The sensor replaced, connector did not fit sensor well so it was replaced (subject of complaint 11244334). Thought it was fixed, and three days later, it stalled again on the highway. Only this time the traction light came on and brakes did not work intermittently. Back at the dealership, the technician in his frustration and opened the wiring harness. What he found about 8 inches from the connector was "crank shaft position wires cut and twisted together..." the service advisor asked who else was in there. I bought the vehicle new at the dealership and they have done all work and maintenance meaning this issue was in production.

This is a continuation of 11243797. For background, the 2017 doge Journey has been stalling intermittently starting at 23,000 miles most of the time not throwing a code. The dealership couldn't recreate the problem and without a code could not fix without a code. We endured 7,000 miles and 100's of stalls (stop and go traffic, highway, left turns in front of on-coming traffic) before a code was thrown indicating crankshaft position sensor. Upon inspection the dealer technician noted that the connector to the sensor did not fit the sensor.

The 2017 Dodge Journey stalls intermittently at all speeds and driving conditions. Stop and go in traffic, accelerating on the highway, coasting up a hill, starting from a stop in an intersection. Usually no codes are thrown. Recently the P0335 code was thrown, crankshaft speed sensor was replaced. Did not fix the problem. The 2016 Journey's were recalled for the same issue. Are the 2017's not worthy of a recall or does someone have to die first?

My air keeps coming back on, not matter how many times that I turn it off. It comes back on by itself. The transmission slips and jerks on the back roads, highway and interstate. My husband has called jim cogdill Dodge and keeps getting the run around about the situations. The air is an electrical issue which can cause a fire if left like it is. I was told by the salesman that he would get back to me in a couple of days. That is not professional and is very dangerous for everyone in my vehicle.

We were driving down a 55 mile per hour highway and getting ready to make a right hand turn onto a narrow bridge. We slow down before making the turn and as we proceeded the car shut down losing control of brakes and power steering. We were able to pull wheel enough from going off the bridge. We were able to start it right backup after we got control and came to a stop, but it was one of the most scary experiences ever with a vehicle. Immediately made appt to have it looked at by dealership and they could not find anything to help us. They stated that Dodge is aware that there is an issue with the car shutting down on a turn in temperatures above 105. That day the height was only 99.we did have the newest updated software when this occurred. I have contacted Dodge directly and was told that there is nothing further they can do so next time it happens to pretty much call them and set up appt. With dealer. I am so irritated with the whole situation that now we just have to hope we don't wreck it next time it happens. We try not to drive it at all as we have 3 small children. Really hope Dodge figures something out before it's too late!

The transmission is failing to shift. It shifts extremely hard and the reverse takes a few minutes to kick in or it doesn't work at all. Sometimes the vehicle will not shift at all. There is a strange burning smell after going up a hill. My electronic throttle control sensor is already on and there is only 13000 miles on the vehicle. I purchased it in January and it's only May. I have the shifting issues while driving. When it does shift it's a sharp jerk. It's a constant problem. I no longer want the vehicle.
