My 2017 Journey was manufactured in August of 2016 Dodge has a recall for Journeys for crankshaft position sensors for Journeys that were made from may of 2016 to July 2016 my car has been stalling out since 40,000 miles and the problem is getting worse upon research this may be the crankshaft position sensor and there have been multiple complants online stating others cars have had issues with this sensor but Dodge only did a limited recall on these vehicles. My car jerks 3-4 times when in reverse then stalls out or it jerks 3-4 times and stalls at stop lights or signs. Other online complaints ive seen state that people have had issues with it also stopping mid driving at high speeds.

The contact stated that while approaching an intersection stop sign and making a left turn the check engine and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact managed to veer to the shoulder of the road shifted the vehicle to park, turned the vehicle off and back on and the vehicle performed as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer woody folsom Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram 1859 golden isles w, baxley, ga 31513, (888) 283-8230 where it was diagnosed that the tcm and PCM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred intermittently. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 18V332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control) as a possible solution to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the transmission temperature gauge indicated that it was too hot to start. The contact stated that it could take ten to thirty minutes for the vehicle to cool down. The contact stated that the failure occurred five times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to smoky mountain Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (556 highlands rd, franklin, nc 28734, (828) 369-5003), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, the vehicle stalled and was taken to the same dealer; however, a failure code could not be located. The dealer performed a flash to the system, but the vehicle was not repaired. The stalling failure occurred once. The contact stated that the vehicle was then taken to hayes Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of gainsville (3115 frontage rd, gainesville, fl 30504 (770) 766-4758) where it was awiting diagnoses and repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided case number: [xxx]. the failure mileage was approximately 47,800. Consumer stated again on 6/11/20 car started then died and towed to dealer. Mechanic stated fuel pump is no longer functioning. The contact owned a 2017 Dodge Journey. While driving at an unknown speed, an abnormal noise was heard and smoke appeared from the front end of the vehicle. The contact coasted over to the side of the road and the occupants exited the vehicle. Afterwards, the vehicle burst into flames and burned to the ground. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow lot. The cause of the failure was not determined. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Vehicle randomly started flashing messages on screen, wind shield wipers turned on, all lights on dash were going on and off, engine failed and breaks quit working completely, turn signals and horn also started going off. All indications that computer lost connection with vehicle temporarily. There has also been another issue since the vehicle was purchased new in 2016 where during sharp turns the front tires makes a very loud grinding noise. We were told by the dealer they couldn't find what was wrong and to wait for recall. Where is the recall? vehicle was stationary and in motion with the computer issue. Vehicle was in motion with steering issue.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the push button start feature hesitated upon pushing the button. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and resume driving; however, the failure continued. During the most recent failure, the contact stated that smoke appeared from the engine. The contact and the passengers exited the vehicle as it shut off on its own. The vehicle was first towed to the contact's home and then to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed with a defective starter, which was replaced. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

I was driving on briarcliff rd and my car cut off while it was on (run) it was in motion. Everything locked. The brakes, gas the steering wheel. I sat there I almost was hit. I kept trying to press the gas and brakes but it wouldn't push down. I could not believe it I was scared and panicked. I then cut the car off and it cut on I immediately started driving toward home.

This is a follow-up to 11244334 and 11243797. For background, the 2017 Journey began stalling intermittently and not throwing a code (starting at about 23,500 miles). The stalling occurred during all driving conditions and speeds. The dealership could not reproduce the event and told me to drive until it throws a code. After 6,000 miles and hundreds of stalls the vehicle finally threw a code, (29,500 miles, P0335 crankshaft position sensor). The sensor replaced, connector did not fit sensor well so it was replaced (subject of complaint 11244334). Thought it was fixed, and three days later, it stalled again on the highway. Only this time the traction light came on and brakes did not work intermittently. Back at the dealership, the technician in his frustration and opened the wiring harness. What he found about 8 inches from the connector was "crank shaft position wires cut and twisted together..." the service advisor asked who else was in there. I bought the vehicle new at the dealership and they have done all work and maintenance meaning this issue was in production.

This is a continuation of 11243797. For background, the 2017 doge Journey has been stalling intermittently starting at 23,000 miles most of the time not throwing a code. The dealership couldn't recreate the problem and without a code could not fix without a code. We endured 7,000 miles and 100's of stalls (stop and go traffic, highway, left turns in front of on-coming traffic) before a code was thrown indicating crankshaft position sensor. Upon inspection the dealer technician noted that the connector to the sensor did not fit the sensor.

Engine light appeared on the dash and I immediately noticed that the car was hesitating and felt as it was losing power while accelerating. I then took it into an auto repair shop and was informed that my catalytic converter needed to be replaced and was over $800 in repairs. While researching online, I came across a recall for the same exact issue on the 2011-2016 series of the Dodge Journeys. I feel as if the 2017 series should be included as well.

The 2017 Dodge Journey stalls intermittently at all speeds and driving conditions. Stop and go in traffic, accelerating on the highway, coasting up a hill, starting from a stop in an intersection. Usually no codes are thrown. Recently the P0335 code was thrown, crankshaft speed sensor was replaced. Did not fix the problem. The 2016 Journey's were recalled for the same issue. Are the 2017's not worthy of a recall or does someone have to die first?

2017 Dodge Journey SXT is stalling out at various speeds causing extreme safety hazard to those on board and other motorists. This is an ongoing issue that has been addressed at least 6 - 7 times now only to continue. Dodge knows something but has refused to come forward with a recall.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. While driving 80 mph, the vehicle decelerated and almost crashed in the middle of rush hour traffic. The vehicle came to a stop and lost power twelve times. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to walker jones Jeep, Dodge, Ram (2730 memorial dr, waycross, ga 31503, (912) 584-1166) where the vehicle was diagnosed, but the codes could not be read. The vehicle was repaired over three times, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired again. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 32,543.

While driving at aprox 25 mph on a slight bend in the road and slightly accelerating, I realized my engine had died when it stopped accelerating. Electrical was still working, but the engine had shut off. I was able to coast to the side of the road, turn on my hazards, and put the vehicle in park. I waited about 20 seconds, then attempted to turn the engine back on. The engine started with no trouble and with no further incidence.

While driving on a highway the speed of traffic was increasing but after stepping on the accelerator several times I discovered the vehicle was not responding. The engine had died with no warning lights displayed. I lost power steering and power brakes. Once I got the vehicle stopped I put it in park, stepped on the brake and pushed the ignition button and the vehicle started. The vehicle is about six months old with around 10,000 miles. The next morning we took it straight to the dealership but because there were no warning lights or codes displayed they said there was nothing they could do.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 70 mph, the contact decelerated while approaching a red light and the vehicle beganto hesitate. The vehicle was driven approximately four miles and, upon approaching another red light, the vehicle began hesitating again. The vehicle was taken to telegraph Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (12000 telegraph road, taylor, Michigan 48180) where it was diagnosed that freon was not added to the engine at the assembly line. The vehicle was repaired. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to dick scott Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (684 w ann arbor road, Plymouth, Michigan 48170) for a transmission leak and missing gaskets in the drive shaft. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

This was a rental car from avis. While driving at approx 70mph with the cruise control engaged, the windshield wipers came on by themselves, all dial instruments went to zero and all the electronic alerts (oil, over heat, tire pressure, etc) annunciated. The throttle remained locked at the cruise setting and would not disengage with activation of the brakes or cruise control button. I was able to over power the engine with the brakes and get the car to the side of the road. It was still running at an engine speed to support 70mph and fighting the brakes. The push to start/stop engine control would not work. I eventually got the car into just rap and then park. At this time, it would not turn over. A weaker person would most certainly been involved in a bad accident. I was concerned the car would catch on fire as the brakes smoked significantly. During use of the vehicle, whether stationary or in motion, the "gas cap light" will come on followed by "check engine light". when this happens the code P0456 will cause the car to act indifferent, it is still drivable, but can cause other components to show a false reading. This issue has happened 4 times in the past 2 months, and every time we go to the dealership the check engine light will disappear. We have checked the gas cap, and this vehicle is under 17,000 miles. This seems to be a common issue with Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler vehicles, and this should be handled by the manufacturer. Treat this known issue as a recall, and improve upon your evaporative emission system.

I was driving with the cruise control on and the vehicle kept trying to speed itself back up and the car kept slowing down I noticed the car was on fire in the back of the car so I pulled over turned the car off jumped out walked to a safe distance called the police while on the phone with them the car catches fire and burned down.
