The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. While driving at an unknown speed, the transmission would not remain in the park position. The check engine indicator illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer (champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge, 9655 Firestone blvd, downey, ca 90241) was contacted and informed the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 186,000.

Repair for this was $3700 to rebuild the clk Mercedes Benz transmission Dodge installed in the car. Light never went out...4 months in the repair iits still not drivable needs the head re-done, new plugs, ignition coils were replaced. Senors repair, in new a new engine due to engine overheating, transmission, electrical failure. I'm a single mother of 4 I can't afford to loss more money or my transportation. Thanks

The car shuts down to a crawl. Can't get any codes from it. First time it happened was on the highway pulled to the side of the road and restarted ran fine for the rest of the day. Getting worst every since now sitting in the driveway no codes afraid to put the family in it.I think Dodge discontinued because they can't keep up with the problems

2005 Dodge Magnum. Consumer writes in regards to a defective throttle. The consumer stated when his son started the vehicle, the etc light illuminated. The vehicle would barely move in the reverse position, or accelerate to more than 15-20 mph. The vehicle was diagnosed as having a defective throttle. His son was informed there was a recall on his make and model. However, it was for vehicles, that were manufactured in April of 2004, and the vehicle in question, was manufactured in September, and was not covered.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled as the electronic throttle control (etc) warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 120,000. The VIN was not available...updated 12-26-13

My 2005 Dodge Magnum accelerator pedal (P/N 04726004ab) fell off during a drive at highway speeds. I reached down to the floor to then operate the vehicle's fuel control by squeezing the pedal in my hand until I could safely park the vehicle. Upon closer inspection, the plastic mounting structure on the pedal assembly appears to have fatigue cracked at all three mounting locations resulting in this bazaar incident. The design appears to have high stress concentrations owing to its hard corners in the molded mounting part features.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contract stated that when driving at any speed, the electrical power and power steering would fail intermittently. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was awaiting a response. The manufacturer was also contacted but provided no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 106,000 and the failure mileage was 100,500. Updated 05/25/11 the consumer stated the vehicle would sometimes surge just prior to losing power. Updated 11/18/11

I was stopped behind traffic at a stop light. When the light turned green I gave the vehicle some gas. At that time, my foot sank through the pedal as the entire gas pedal mechanism, not just the pedal pad, but the entire mechanism broke off and fell to the floor. I stopped the car immediately applying all brakes. I looked behind the pedal and it appeared the plastic molding attachment had broken off showing a shared piece of plastic where it had broken. Again, the entire pedal mechanism laid there on the floor with only the wiring attached. The car was towed to the dealer who had to charge a $99 diagnostic to look at the pedal and say you need a complete new pedal. The additional pedal will cost $249 plus labor. I still cant imagine what would have happened if I was on the highway.

The computer system that controls the electronic throttle system went out on my car, which causes the car to stop accelerating and then beginnings to coast at 5 mph. When at red lights or stop signs the engine starts to accelerate automatically due to the malfunction of the computer. When I took my car to a Dodge dealership they inform me that there was a nationwide back order for this part.

Engine RPM slow to decrease when foot removed from the gas pedal. Experienced this condition several times. Last time RPM stuck at 4000 RPM and would not decrease and I had to turn off the ignition to get RPM to decrease.(fortunately I was in "park" in my driveway.) I called the dealer who sent a tow truck to take the vehicle in for repair. That was about 6 weeks ago and the part- throttle control sensor - was not available and will not be until about Feb. 1st. In my opinion this defect, if experienced under different conditions, could result in a serious accident, particularly if the vehicle was behind the wheel.

- the contact stated that had transmission failure. The vehicle had 18,000 mileson it. The check engine light first turned on at 10,000 miles. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, and the check engine light was reset. In June 2006 the contact was driving in heavy traffic 70 mph with clear and dry road conditions and the vehicle dropped to first gear. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated the air bag light and the check engine light came on. The contact called the dealer, waited a few minutes and drove the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer changed the throttle body and transmission control module. The vehicle performed well for approximately 3,000 miles. On Dec 22, 2006 the check engine light came on, the contact called the dealer and because the contact was concerned about driving the vehicle, the dealer came and towed the vehicle. The transmission control module was changed. The contact was called on Dec 28, 2006, and was told the vehicle was ready. The contact picked up the vehicle and within three miles of leaving the dealer, the contact accelerated and the vehicle dropped to first gear. The traffic was heavy and the contact can not remember if any warning lights turned on. The contact drove the vehicle back to the dealer where it remained. The contact did not have the VIN information, he will call back.

: the contact stated that after 200 to 300 miles of freeway driving, the vehicle appeared to be shutting down but would not allow the contact to accelerate. When the contact drove the vehicle on the freeway about 2 to 3 months later, the vehicle also idled up and would not allowing the vehicle to accelerate. This only occurred during highway driving. The vehicle has been driven to work daily without incident. The speed difference was 75 mph on the freeway versus 45 mph to go to work. The contact expressed that the problem may be caused by the difference in speed or the increased in mileage. Both incidences occurred after 200 miles of driving. The dealer test drove the vehicle for 20 miles and ran a diagnostic test but could not find the problem. The contact expressed concerns for safety. The vehicle's brakes were also a concern. Since the vehicle was purchased, the brake warning light has been illuminating. When the emergency is released, the brake warning light turns off, even though the emergency brake was not previously engaged. There was also a terrible squealed when the brake pedal was depressed. This has occurred since the vehicle was purchased. The dealership was alerted of all of these problems but they have offered no resolution.

While driving, on numerous occasion the vehicle would accelerate on its own. The consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer. The mechanic informed the driver that the problem could not be duplicated. Please provide additional information.
