Magnum SXT 3.5L V6

hi to all the people that got stuck at home or work ect. I have a 06 charger and 07 magnum and both had the same problem with the gearshift, first it was my charger at the gas station, i didnt have any tools so i started to pop up the plastic pieces and stuck my finger down there and felt a small cable, i was able to pull up on the cable while the car was on and my foot on the brake and it let into gear, its a silver cable located in the front left of gear shift. once i got the car home i took out the whole assembly you will need a 10 mm with ext, a flat heat srewdriver and a phillips head and a 5/16 for the linkage bolt once you get the four bolts out un plug the wires and take out completly(make sure when you take off the silver cable do not take off the sideways T clip just the cable off the pink plastic thing inside housing) once out push the pink plastic thing to put in drive position, then take a small flat and pop apart at the seems ,it will come apart ,once thats apart find the little spring that broke off the pink piece then take that pink piece off look close at where there used to be a little plastic hook, your gonna drill an angle hole behind where it broke, with a small bit hook your spring on the hole you just drilled put plastic piece back on then hook other side of spring to the black housing it right in front of pink piece once thats on put it all back together exactly how you took it apart and keep testing it as you put it back together ,took me about an hour and a half complete once i found what the problem was... so if your bypass doesent work its the spring broke of inside.. so far i havent had a problem in my charger and its been a few months and just finished my magnum and works just fine now,so hopefully this save you about $500 well good luck and hope this info helps, thanks

I went to get in my car this morning and the gear shift was locked. Three people tried to help and said they had knowledge or have owned a dodge with this same problem, Ones cousin had a charger another mans wifes magnum and the third owned a 300. If you do your research there was a recall on the Police chargers for this same problem, But what about the general public. In 1 hour I met three people.... Can you imagine how much money they are collecting for this default. It appears after taking car to dealership this is a very well known problem... Please raise your voice and stick it to DODGE. This is an issue, we shouldnt have to pay for.
