Neon 4.0L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,855 miles

I heard a whining noise under the hood of my car. I pulled over and popped the hood to see if I could see a lose belt or any smoke or anything out of the norm. All I saw was a small leak, which I seen as fixable. When I tried to drive off, my car hesitated and jolted. After a short while, my car just wouldn't move. Still cranked, the car would "go into gear", but it wouldn't move. The excrucitation whining noise was still going on. Why do Neons fall apart at such low mileage? It makes no sense. I have had my car a little over 3 years, and I have had a few problems with it, but I wasnt expecting this to be one of them anytime soon!

Neon

  • Manual transmission

Hard to shift into reverse. Sometimes it wont go into reverse and engine revs and then when I get it into gear it clunks and the car can jerk. What is wrong with this vehicle?!

I see others have had similar problems to me. The car has such low mileage on it that its insane for there to be any problem with it. I've owned junkers that didn't even come close to having any where near the problems that I am having now. Right after the warranty ran out.

Neon LE

  • 40,000 miles

I have had my neon looked at for the same complaint several times. The dealership fixes it temporarily. The clunking resumes again and now lately the car does not appear to be shifting in the lower gears correctly. This vehicle has a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Chrysler Customer service people are trained to say "I understand how you feel." When you ask to talk to a supervisor they will not allow you and say the supervisor's are doing admistrative work. I told one of the respresentive's this is administrave work and that if my car is not fixed I will turn Chrysler into the Attorney General's Office. I paid $14,000 for this car and I should have a right to have the car work properly from the beginning. I almost feel the dealer's piddle around with the car's a little and don't really fix the problem but charge money to Chrysler for the patch attempt jobs they do that arent' worth it. If you are a woman they love to tell you everything that's going wrong is the design of the car. I told them and you wonder why people are buying toyota's Honda's and other foreign cars who are made a heck of a lot better. I now realize what cars have the good track records and which ones have the lousey ones and the lousey ones are because of sloppy engineering design and non-existent customer service to make sure problems are taken care of appropriately and forwarded to the next level of management if needed. American cars are putting themselves out of business because of their shoddy workmanship and engineering. I won't buy another american made car again.
