Was driving in town when smoke starting coming from my steering colum. turned it off then stopped but was heating up. and can still smell burning. going to find out towmror what is going on

I started my car to go to work when I turned the lights on I smelled smoke and the low beam head lights and fog lights stopped working but I still had high beam lights. The next day I took off the cover over the steering column removed 4 screws and flipped the switch over, removed the plug and saw that it was burnt. I bought a new switch from Auto Zone but I need to get a new plug before I change it. This could be extremely dangerous because of the possibility of fire or an accident at night especially in foggy conditions.

Called Charlie Zook dodge dealership where i bought the car New, and as usual they didn't care one bit, then called Dodge and again they didn't care. the lights went out on me when i was driving down a highway at night, the Dodge dealership tried to tell me that if i wanted to fix the problem i would have to buy a new switch and a Whole new wiring harness for 1000 but i was looking at the screen and noticed there was a TSB for this and after i started to loose my cool, the guy finally told me that they do have a connector end for the wire harness for alot cheaper. I will never buy a dodge again, never. the don't stand behind their products.

Wiring melted together and lost headlights off and on. Dodge dealer could not find a problem the first time, 2nd dealer found the melted wires in the steering column. Could have caused an accident at night as the lights would just go out.

I driving my car and I noticed a funny smell and white smoke coming from the steering column. I turned the car off and back on and it kept smoking every time it was turned on. I took it to the dealer, where they said it was my multifunction switch that burned. They replaced the multifunction switch and gave me the onld one back. You can definately tell where it was melted/burned.
