problem #2

Feb 182009

Neon SXT 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

here we go again, started to pull out into traffic on the interstate just when I was merging into traffic trying to get up to speed when buck buck snort bang lost power had to get out of the way, car would not rev over 2000 rpm, had to nurse it home and scanned it, sure enough intermittent cam position sensor signal. This is the second time for this problem. Replaced it a year and half ago. Humm.

Read several reports of this problem and one said that the engine leaks oil past the cam seal and this oil blocks the magnetic signal to the engine controller. One said not to buy sensor from auto parts store but from Dodge. Humm??$$$$ I guess I will just replace it and hope for another year and a half before I have to replace it again. I just have to make sure I have plenty of time to pull out into traffic!! Maybe time to start looking for a replacement.. Not a Dodge.

problem #1

Neon 2.0L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

this car has such low mileage. 55000 miles. it's an '04 and i've had the same check engine light problem 3 times!

I've had several mechanics look at it and all have said it was either the cam shaft sensor or the crank shaft sensor. both were replaced, neither worked. the car's computer reported that those were the failed sensors. after all that it reported that the engine was misfiring. but then that went away (mysteriously)

don't ever buy a dodge. stick with Honda and Toyota.
