problem #3

Neon SXT 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,080 miles

Had the car serviced on 6/14/11(next day after engine light came on) Serviceman used his analizer and it showed 'bad cam shaft sensor'. The engine also stalls if you give it fuel too fast.

Update from Oct 25, 2011: I replaced the cam shaft sensor a couple of days later and I have not experienced the problem since. Engine nows idles better and runs better and has improved gas milage. I would say the problem is fixed.

Nov 012007

Neon SXT 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 86,000 miles

The problem began around November 2007, and has continued off & on since. Put the key in the ignition and the key would turn over, but never actually fire. Try, try, try... eventually it would start with great hesitation and the engine light would come on and stay on for a day or two. I could go for weeks, sometimes a month and then it would do it again. I had the car run on the diagnostic computer several times and they could never pin point the problem. I kept telling them it seemed like a fuel injection problem or something with the cam shaft, but did they listen to a woman, NO! I finally had a mechanic check it out that knew what he was doing. Guess what....it is the cam shaft sensor and the mechanic said it would be no problem to fix.

Neon SXL 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,272 miles

I just bought a used car off of a dealer. My son only drives it to work , he walks , he only has put 2,272 miles on it in 4 months. He was driving around 60 and it kicked down in a low gear. It quit and then finally it started again but would only go 20 miles an hour. He let it cool down and it ran ok. The engine light is on - the code is po340 cam sensor , but they are saying it could be anything on the cam shaft. We want to fix it but my son is in school and we don't have money to put all kinds of things on it. , We need help.
