The dashboard first cracked from the center of the windshield, to the air vent. Then another crack developed started laterally from the middle of the crack line and started spreading several inches towards the driver side. Then another crack developed from the air vent all the way to the front of the dashboard. I put silicone in the cracks and that seems to have stopped it. Looks terrible. My local mechanics said they could replace the dashboard with a junk yard part at a cost of $700.

Bought a new 20005 Dodge Neon amd kept hearing a small pop , thought it was the windsield actually, kept looking but did see anything for the longest. The interior of the neon dash is high and you cannot see a crack over the steering wheel while in the car.. a crack started at the corner of the dash vent and in no time the vent falls in and the crack is now almost up to the steering wheel!!!

The top center vent for the defrost (by the windshield) cracked and broke apart first, starting in 2012. By 2013, the dash itself cracked down the center from the vent, and a few months later another crack formed near the same place. The car vibrates hard when idle if the AC or defrost isn't on, so the dash rattles like crazy because of the two cracks. Found out from my mechanic this is a known Dodge issue, but they never remedied it. The car sounds like a rolling POS because of the rough idle and the cracked dash. Thanks Dodge!
