I've only had my car for two years, but apparently I've needed to get my brakes cut and replaced several times. Something always ends up being wrong with my brake pads and rotors, which cost me more than anything else I'm having done. I used to love Neons, but the latest model is a hassle. I guess that's why Dodge stopped making them.

My wife smelled smoke and thought the car was overheating after haven driven 4 miles. She pulled over to the side of the the major roadway and got a ride home. The car radiator was full. I drove the shaking car to our mechanic. The mechanic said the problem was the rear brakes had disintegrated / broke into pieces. He showed them to me. He said he had never seen this happen. Two years earlier, in July of 2008, while under warranty, the front driver side brake somehow got stuck on the inside and would not release.
