2007 Dodge Nitro. Consumer writes in regards to driveline tunnel shield recall notice. The consumer stated he made an appointment to have the recall performed, after receiving a recall. However, when he arrived at the dealership, he was informed the parts were not available, and they would available in two days. The consumer stated two days, has since turned into three months.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that the plastic case that protects the wiring and button for the driver seat adjustment button fractured. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred several times before. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician verified the failure and stated that it needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 62,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that when attempting to enable the cruise control, she would receive a delayed reaction and then it would illuminate. When attempting to disable the cruise control, she had to depress the button several times as it would remain stuck. In addition, the rail rack on the top of the vehicle was not secure and could possible fracture from the vehicle and cause damage to other vehicles when driving. The dealer made three attempts to duplicate the failure but to no avail. The contact did not inform manufacturer of the failure and the vehicle was repaired three times or replaced. The contact towed the vehicle to a local mechanic to get a second opinion. The local mechanic suggested that the contact have the axle welded and tested by a specialist. The contact had the vehicle towed to another dealer to have the vehicle inspected. The failure mileage was 48,000. Updated 01/19/10 the mechanic inspected the vehicle and found broken welds at the trailing arm mount at the rear differential. Updated 01/20/10
