I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 that has a cracked dash board. Every week the cracks grow and increase in number. The cracks are connecting to each other now and is making holes in the dash. I'm getting concerned that if it keeps cracking at this rate that the air bag may be exposed and if it were to deploy in an accident that the sharp cracked pieces may turn into projectiles. It may also deploy with out reason.

There are no incidents leading to this complaint. The dash on my truck (1999 Dodge Ram 1500) has developed a crack in it from the windshield to the drink holder literally splitting the dash in half.

The dash has split down the middle from the windshield. I feel this may compromise the safety of myself and passengers in an accident. It might affect the air bags operating correctly.

Ram 1500 6-cyl

1).we were driving along when the truck, we just got suddenly died. The gas gauge showed 1/4 of a tank. It is a single tank truck, but it was out of gas. When more was added it started up and ran. 2). a heavy rain fell, my sons carseat (latched in the back seat of the quad cab) was so wet the next day I had to wash and dry the padding before it could be used. The windows were shut, locked tight and parked all night. 3). my husband was coming from work a drunk driver suddenly pulled in front of him. Trying everything to stop my husbands truck hit his. The air bags (none of them) went off! they were "on" at the time of impact. My husband was going around 45 miles per hour.4). As my husband started to work the truck suddenly over revved and died. It was said the transmission went out. It was later found it was a sensor went out. New sensor fixed it for about a day and a half. 5). truck shifted funny, lost all oil pressure, and died the motor failed. When it was opened up the cylinder walls were not assembled right at the factory it is a surprise it even made it to 87 thousand miles in the first place. The xxx wall pattern was highly visible and never worn smooth as it should have if it were running properly from the start. Some of the pieces are "missing" also in this motor others are improperly aligned. When he called the dealership it was out of business and the Dodge company says you bought it you got it. Not even 90 thousand miles on it. Now we are stuck with the financial burden of paying for my car payment( as to shuffle the kids around), his replacement car (as to get to work 30+ miles away), and this pile of mistakes in a shell that is suppose to be his truck. This does not even mention the burden of the cost we are suffering from to re build this thing to working order again. To make matters worse; this is just the stuff he has told me about so far, more is being found wrong every time he checks in on it.

Ram 1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles
Repaired fuel injection system and charged me part of that which I assumed was covered under warranty seat belt has not been repaired they say it is not their problem but according to NHTSA, belts are manufacturer?S problem. Transmission: We were in traffic in March in houston tx when transmission decided not to work properly. Downshifting in traffic nearly causing a major accident.the Dodge place said it was the valve body which was not the problem at the time the band needed adjusting which cost $87 and they said it would cost $1300 to fix I pulled into traffic and it did it again 7 months later it is out of warranty so tried to remedy problem & ourself could not do. Called Dodge Corp. And was told to take to dealership to see if they could help us financially fix this. We did they said they would except $200. I said ok fix the problem then they called back and said since somebody else had put parts on it they would not fix it. I told them that before they started. So go figure. I consider this a safety issue just because of it down shifting in traffic alone but to no avail

I have had my vehicle back to the dealer for service several times due to coolant loss and odor in cab. They said, on at least two of the occasions, that they do not see a problem. On one occasion they did replace the thermostat but the problem persisted. Now the check engine light came on and the service dept says its the "intake manifold gasket". I asked if it was under warranty and was told no. I asked if the loss of coolant was due to this gasket failure they stated that the gasket had nothing to do with the cooling system.? I asked a friend of mine if the gasket defect could be the reason for the coolant loss and he advised me, most definitly. Needless to say, I needed the truck fixed, so I paid for the repair. Low and behold I'm still losing coolant.

I've been told to come pick up my truck because "there is no fix, and we don't know when we will have a fix. We'll let you know.. drive it as is until we do." This automobile is less than a year old, who knows what will happen when I start driving it. Is it safe to drive like this. What will it do to the mileage, to the engine, to the transmission? no safety defec (s) stated in the summary.
