Ram 1500 SLT 5.2L

  • Manual transmission
  • 45,000 miles

this is my second dodge ram one 1996 and now my 2000 both dashes have cracked severely and it really sucks the whole trucks in perfect condition all black 22inch rims

very nice then you get in and see cracks all over the dash and if close you can see them

through the windshield it makes a nice truck look crappy, dodge wont do nothing about

it and i don't want to pay 900 dollars just for it to crack again so i am pretty much screwed dodge should take better care of its customers i know and they know these dashes are faulty so do something about dodge and keep a good customer happy i had

plans to buy a new dodge truck now i am looking else where because of this.

Ram 1500 Quadcab 5.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,000 miles

Started as a crack on passengers side and now has chunks falling inside. Tried to glue, but found that glue does not fix the problem. Was told the only way to glue was to use epoxy because of the dash composition. Checked into getting a replacement from the dealer and it is $402 and does not include installing. Had the windshield changed by insurance because of rock crack and the dash is worse now since the windshield has relieve its stress into the dash. Like others before me I now have a holey dash that my grandson doesn't like the looks of! I am due to get another truck, but I'm going for a Chevrolet the next time and crush this one.

Ram 1500 Sport 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

Everyone I know with th '98 to '01 Dodge Rams seem to be encountering this in some form or another. I know of 4 cracked dashboards including mine that run from the defrost vent across the dash toward the passenger area. So far mine hasn't started to crumble apart yet although I get a weird pop like the pieces knocking together when I cross rough tracks or terrain. The one vehicle that I know of that didn't have the cracked dash ended up with a cracked windshield that started in the same location. The rumor/guess that I hear in this area is that the vehicle frame has a design flaw that puts strain in the center front area of the cab.

Ram 1500 SLT 5.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

The Dash is not only coming apart, the door on the glove compartment now falls off when it is opened. This truck had to have a new rear end and new transmission put in it before it reached 100,000 miles: And the Tape player just went out.

Ram 1500 V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 71,000 miles

I have been reading about the cracked dashboard problems and I though I would put mine on the list. I have not looked into any repairs because it looks like no body else has had any luck getting any help. Besides I do not want to spend any $$ if it's going to only get worse.

Ram 1500 Off Road 5.9L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 170,000 miles

I'm trying to trade-in/sell truck and this is the major complaint from potential buyers. It's a huge eye sore and is killing any value in the vehicle I had. The crack in my dashboard makes an otherwise decent looking truck look like crap.

Ram 1500 5.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

OK, I know I am a little behind on this, I even called Dodge and emailed them back in

2004 when this first happened. They told me tough basically. I do NOT have any dash left to put a dash cover on to support it. Even the piece that goes around the instrument

panel is cracked in several places. I took all the pieces and glued them back together and that held for a year. It is not only the material used in the making of the dashes. Dodge should have made the windshields with a little more tint to them since it was a selling point about being able to see out them. If anyone has had their fixed by Dodge let me know.

Thanks,

Ram 1500 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

As a major company, Dodge/Chrysler should recall this problem or offer some type of compensation for it. They created a poor product and now they will make more money off of their defect as the service must be provided in their dealerships. A bunch of BS!

Also, don't bother calling their "help" line,800-992-1997. this is no help at all and the dash board issue has been denied for assistance!

Ram 1500 5.9L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab and the dash has busted all to pieces. It looks like a big jigsaw puzzle. It started out with one crack and in about a years time it has turned into a joke. I don't think much of Dodge if they can't recall and fix something as major as this seems to becoming.

Ram 1500 Laramie SLT 5.9L V8

I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd with a very horrible looking Dash. The dash is cracked and huge pieces have fallen in. I have covered it with a towel to make it less visible. It really looks horrible. I have owned Dodge vehicles for many years. My wife and I both drive Dodge's now, but I will not be purchasing another one unless they do something to fix this problem.

Cracked dash on my 2000 Ram is junk.It is falling into the wire harness.I wrote Chrysler and no response. This I think is a safety issue.I have several sharp, lose pieces of plastic dash that could fly at me if I ever had a front end collision.

Same Same Same....I have a Dodge Ram 1500 SLT assembled in St. Louis Mo. Noticed the dash cracking after having a Pioneer GPS installed at Circuit City I, in my mind, was blaming them (Circuit City)at first but something told me it wasn't their fault after more and more cracks started showing up all over. I found this site and confirmed its shotty cheap material. Nothing I hate more than crappy work and things that fall appart and the folks responsible not standing up and making it right. Thanks Dodge, next time you bend over I hope I can return the favor. [end rant]

Ram 1500 1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,000 miles

The dash on my Dodge Ram 1500 truck completely caved in and is continually falling into more pieces which may have lead to other problems. Dodge should recall these faulty dashboards. Maybe if enough of there customers find out about the dashboard problems they will be forced to do something. I know that should I have a front in collision, my dashboard holds no safety protection at all.

Ram 1500 1500 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

PURCHASED MY WIFE'S 2002 RAM 4X4 NEW IN 02, AT AROUND 55-60K MILES NOTICED A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT WAS VERY NOTICEABLE AFTER A MONTH OR SO OTHER CRACKS BEGAN TO APPEAR. NOW AT 80K MILES THE DASH LOOKS LIKE IT WAS HIT WITH A HAMMER AND YOU CAN SEE THROUGH IT. MY WIFE HAS TAKEN EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF HER TRUCK BUT STATES THAT IT'S EMBARRASSING TO HAVE PEOPLE RIDE IN IT DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE DASH. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PURCHASE A DASH MAT TO PUT A BAND AID ON A WOUND THAT SHOULD NOT BE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. SURE WISH THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WE ALL COULD DO TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. AS OF NOW I HAVE NOT HEARD OF A RECALL.
