Ram 1500 4WD 8-cyl

  • 50,000 miles
Hi, well I begin as a guy who loves trucks we bought a Dodge Ram 06' 1500 mega cab heavy duty, now the mega cabs R 1500's on a 2500 hd chassis. My Dodge Ram started doing the death wobble about 1year ago give or take. I have replaced the pitman arm and the tie rods and no difference. I am begging to think this is a factory issue because I hear cases by the dozen on youtube and people do not seem to know what the issue is. My family & I have almost been in numerous accidents luckily god was watching over us. I recently got into a pretty horrible death wobble in my truck, it was so intense that my muffler ripped right off the truck. If Chrysler is saying that is not a recall that we have fix it our selves, well that's crap because obviously it looks like a defective part in my truck. My truck is dangerous to be driving like that and I hope this becomes a recall because its not just me it's a couple hundred, who knows now how many. Thank you for your time.

Ram 1500 8-cyl

  • 65,000 miles
There is a (tsb 02-001-07 rev. A) that calls out a shudder, braking, shimmer... blah blah blah... on level ground and certain speeds. My issue is not on level ground, my problem exist on decline of 7% when the brake is applied very slightly the front brakes or front suspension shudders, and shakes so violently that the entire truck and the steering wheel is out of control, if you grab to tight on the steering wheel you may over correct your steering and eventually could cause you to overturn your vehicle. There is no excuse for this, I have had my rotors changed, brakes changed, tires balanced, and rotated but the problem still exists. I am telling you that this is a very dangerous situation for anyone to be in. I would love to take the owner of the Dodge co. And his family for a ride. I will almost guarantee that something would get done about this issue. Rotors should last for more than 6 months, but the truck is violently out of control and too dangerous for me to allow my wife or other family members to drive this vehicle until it is fixed or I sell it. Once I sell it I will not purchase another Dodge product again, I am tired of wasting my time and money on this issue. I am tired of the dealerships giving me the run around and oh it's your rotor are quote "warped" un-quote is how it is documented on my paperwork..

Started hearing a low howling noise in my front end when going around curves in the road, it progressively got louder after a couple weeks to a grinding sound, took it to the dealer where I bought it performance Dodge, woodbury, NJ. They stated that both front wheel bearings were bad. I told the service manager that I heard there was a recall on my year model for that very reason, he stated that he never heard of it, I informed him of the reason for the recall, and his answer was that my truck was 6 years old and those things wear out. I said are you crazy the truck has only 38000 miles on it, his answer was it was a good thing I purchased a extened sevice contract. It cost me $107 deductable.I called Chrysler and was told there was no recall on my truck.this was my first Chrysler product and if this is how they stand behind there product, when they were aware that there was a problem at the factory it will be my last. My truck should have been part of that recall, just like many others that were not.I will be trading it in for a Ford next year. Now I know why the govt. Had to bail Chrysler out so many times.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500, steering wheel shakes & truck pulls when brakes applied. Brakes back & front changed rotors & pads. Same condition. This condition was reported June 15/07 7 tie rod ends changed & brakes. The second set of brakes have been installed checked tie rods defective & sloppy on second set. Vehicle has 71727 km`S & Dodge will not change tie rod ends saying truck is out of warranty period. Checking used 2006 to 2008 Dodge Ram have had tie rods changed. Suspect Chrysler Dodge does not want to advertise this defect with recall because after tie rods changed alignment is required.

Bought 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 new from metro Dodge in ottawa. Have had numerous front end troubles. Brakes,3sets of front shocks, wheel bearings, outer tie rod ends replaced once at 22000km`S. tie rod ends on streeing are defective again. Dodge wants to inspect & charge for outer rie rod ends after 42000kms on second set. Checking used 2006,2007 & 2008 in Dodge dealer lots outer tie rods have been replaced on trucks in lot. I feel Dodge is covering up a defective design & part troubles on all 3 years. Metro Dodge told me to never bring my truck back for service. The service manager denies that these years of trucks have defective front end parts & design. Please investigate before a major collision with this vehicle. Thank you, steve moore

While driving my 2006 Dodge 1500 megacab truck at 70 mph, the truck started shaking violently and out of control. I held it as straight as I could and applied the brakes. The shaking finally stopped at about 20 mph. This was especially dangerous, because it was in the fast lane of traffic during rush hour. I later read some forums on the internet that labeled this problem the "death wobble." It appears, from the many experiences described on the forums, that this is a common problem with Dodge.

Had vehicle aligned due to the front end bouncing. Tie rod was replaced and vehicle had a vibration and popping noise from the front end after that. Today I took it to the shop and they said the wheel bearing is worn beyond safe conditions. My VIN did not fall under the current recall but I seem to be having the same problem with my vehicle and my family has been put at risk with this vehicle problem. I have new parts being put on today which is going will be paid out of pocket again. I have driven with this vibration for some time now not even aware that it could possibly be under a recall. A fault this serious could cause death and injury to my family and someone else's.

The vehicle has a vibration mainly between the speeds of 55 to 60 mph. However I have noticed the vibrations at other speeds as well. The vibration is significant enough to shake the vehicle occupants. The first visit to the service department I was told one wheel was found out of balance and the problem was remedied. On the way home the vibration was still present. I immediately called the service department and brought the vehicle back. The service manager rode with me and indeed acknowledged there was a problem. During this second visit it was determined all 4 tires were not within acceptable limits and replaced. (mind you the tires only had approximately 1600 miles.) after driving with the new tires for a few days the vibration still persists. I took the vehicle in for a third visit to the service department, however the service manager could not duplicate the problem and I was sent on my way with no attempted remedy. I have been researching the problem, and have found nearly 40 other consumers complaining of the same vibration on their 2006 Dodge Ram. They have also not had any success at fixing the problem after as many as five visits to their respective service departments.
