Ram 1500

  • 45,594 miles
While pulling my rv trailer, I noticed a growling noise and vibration coming from the front of my truck. The closer I got to home the noise got louder. Took to my mechanic and he had to replace left front wheel bearing hub, steering knuckle and alignment. It fixed the problems. Only 45594 miles. Cost $800. Is this a recall for this vehicle" can I be reimbursed for my cost of repairs from Chrysler"

Vibration and bouncing- wobble feeling with loose steering at speeds 55-70, from front wheels through steering wheel. Tires have been re-balanced several times as the possible cause but truck continues to have vibrations in front wheels at speeds 55 or higher. Continual brake noise, rattling sounds at all speeds after brakes have been applied 2-3 times under normal traffic conditions.

Ram 1500

Dodge Ram 2008 quad cab 1500 series. At the time I called into Dodge I had roughly 60 thousand miles on my truck. I contacted Dodge in 2014 and they told me although that was the model and series that was part of a recall that my particular VIN was not eligible for a recall. The problems I had endured were swaying of the truck almost to the extent where the tire felt like it was wobbling and the truck shaking when I excellerated over 50 mphs. It was at that time when I took a road trip for memorial day weekend 2014 when this started getting progressively worse and I pretty much had to drive 40 miles an hour the I75 freeway because the car felt like it was going to flip over when I was excellerating. It was right there after that I contacted Dodge to make a complaint and they told me although I had the year and make of the Ram but my particular VIN was not eligible for any recall. So there after I had to replace my tie rods and the sway bar at my own expense and also replace my tires not too long after that which were new from the dealer when I bought it used in 2011. My biggest fear was the vehicle that was the safest of the 2 my family owns was now a risk to my children, my spouse and I. I also had fellow vacationers in the vehicle with me which witnessed the vehicle shaking obsessively when we were accelerating.

Ram 1500

  • 35,829 miles
Both left and right tie rods failed at 3 years old and 4 years old and we replaced them out of pocket. All 4 O2 sensors failed at 5 years old but dealer failed to diagnose this correctly while the truck was still under warranty and we had to replace these and the PCM, which burnt out because of the defective O2 sensors, after the truck was not under warranty any more. The airbags are defective and Chrysler does not have the parts to fix it and we can't sell the vehicle as it is. Chrysler states it is not part of the buyback and now we are stuck with an unsafe vehicle that we can't sell.

Ram 1500

  • 4,500 miles
When operating the vehicle whether under a load or not, using sustained higher RPM's the steering wheel will freeze up and there is absolutely no steering available. This has happened in the mud pulling a trailer, in snow navigating a little hill and now on the interstate entrance ramp! twice just changing lanes going around 30 mph! the two little times I knew to lower the RPM's very quickly and observed a loud pop noise when the steering wheel let loose. On the entrance ramp to the interstate I came so close to a concrete wall before the steering came back. I took it in to the dealership and they kept it for 3 days. All they said was unable to duplicate. I duplicated it the very next week. Along with cold weather stalling at red lights. I do not think they looked at it or took it seriously. The vehicle when it did this in the mud and snow I at first thought it was a rock lodged into the wheel but then later realized it froze up.

Ram 1500 8-cyl

  • 35,900 miles
Steering became very loose and uneven tire wear at 35,900. The truck felt like the front end was going to fall off and was wandering and bouncing. I took the truck into the dealer (royal Dodge owego, NY) for evaluation in the summer of 2011 and was told the left tie rod end was defective and the truck was out of warranty. I obtained a quote of approximately $200 to replace the left front tie rod end and do an alignment. I ended up replacing the tie rod end myself ($50) and having the truck lined up ($80) at moore's tire sales in owego, NY. Upon evaluation of the defective tie rod, I noticed there wasn't any grease from the factory on the tie rod ball once I cut the boot open. I also ended up having to replace the tires due to the uneven tire wear. I am aware of the recalls on this truck but I have the extended cab version and the recall is only for the mega cab version"??? I think the recall should also include the extended cab version also. Is there any recourse for Fiat Chrysler to reimburse me for the expense" I also just had to replace the right outer tie rod for the same condition at 58,000 miles. Updated 9/28/15 updated 12/13/2017
