Ram 1500

  • 1,000 miles
The Ram 1500 I purchased new was sold to me with an active rear axle recall in effect. I was told that a recall order was in place after I purchased the truck and that the parts for this recall were not available and I would receive notification to bring my truck in for the recall repair on the rear axle. I noticed a growling type noise coming from the rear end reported this to the dealership. They informed this would be repaired when the rear axle parts are installed. I brought the truck back for the repair and then returned at a later date due to a recurring growling noise in which they added more fluid.I now understand another recall is forthcoming to repair the seal on the rear axle bolt. This truck should not of been sold due to the unsafe condition to me. Family and others. This has been a persistent problem and should not be considered as a remedied vehicle especially with the upcoming related recall.I believe this should be included in the buy back due to the ongoing problems or return for a new vehicle purchase.

We were traveling home July 18th on the interstate when the truck started shaking and he tried to get off the interstate on an exit. The stearing messed up and he like to have not got it stopped before we were running out of ramp. It' was light not having control of the wheel or brakes. When we got stopped he opened the hood to see if he could see a problem there. He also walked aroung the entire truck checking tires. We finally decided to try it again. We were then only about 60 miles from home. We drove slower the rest of the way because that was a very scary thing to have happen. Our granddaughter had softball practice wed. Night in knoxville tenn. It wasn't as bad as as the 18th but it done it a few times on us again. We haul presious cargo, our granddaughters, it scares us to death driving with them in tha truck. I taled to Chrysler 3 days ago and she told me I would get an email in a day or 2. she also has us an appointment to get the bolt put on on August 17th. But our concerns are it may have more damage because of the brakes and steering doing this. We only bought this truck on April 19th 2015. The recalls are from 2013. Why weren't they fixed then? the truck had not even turned over 50,00 miles when we bought it. We bought it because it had low miles and we want a safe vehicle to travel to her games and practices. Now we are afraid that something will happen and they might get hurt. I tried to call them again today, July 31st I was on hold for over 4 hrs.never did get a real person to answer.

My 2011 Ram 1500 summary report shows: "no recall information available". the dealer explains my truck is not eligible for the buyback offer. Is the dealer correct that the vehicle is not part of the fca buyback offer" I talked to a Chrysler rep on 7/28/15 who researched this and the recall affects the 2011 Ram 1500 with a 9:25 rear axle and that my truck has a different(") rear axle. I'm not sure what he is talking about. This vehicle has been repaired twice for the front end. While driving the vehicle at either 35, 45, 55, 65 or 75 it wobbles, vibrates something fierce and then it seems you reach a certain distance at that speed or a bump in the road and bam it fine for a while until it does it again. And it will get to the point that you smell axle gear oil. When I went to have it repaired the first time I was told the front wheel bearing was changed on the passenger side and if it were to make the same noise bring it back made the same wobble noise brought it to another place they replaced the wheel bearing (same one) and the whole front axle and said it was fixed, I took it home and low and behold same problem. No I am trying to have the last place fix what he didn't fix and I am catching a nightmare trying to get in touch with that guy because everytime he says someone will be there to bring the vehicle by no one is there.

Had scheduled an appointment for a recall notice with all american Dodge in san angelo, Texas. Arrived for appointment and service manager said they could not look at it due to no techs available called to reschedule appointment on 3/9/15 and was told I would have to wait three months for an appointment. Am I supposed to drive around in a potentially unsafe vehicle for three months" I think the dealership is saying that hoping no one calls back to reschedule an appointment. How am I supposed to know what my schedule will be in three months"

Operating normally, a grinding noise began and the vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed as a rear differential bearing failure, likely due to the previous recall #NHTSA campaign number: 10V656000 which was done immediately after notification. Significant costs were incurred to repair the differential, axle and bearings. No heavy payloads or towing was done. Maintenance is always done on time and records are available at the dealership. Its seems inconceivable that such a new truck could have a very significant failure.
