The contact owns a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, he noticed that the accelerator pedal was sticking to the floor. The contact kicked the pedal and it released. The contact then shifted into neutral and shut the vehicle off. The contact looked under the hood and noticed that the throttle cable was stuck. The contact then pulled the cable back from being idled and drove home. The dealer was notified and stated that they need to inspect and replace the throttle cable and upper bell crank lever. The repairs would take a week because the parts were on back order. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 275,000.

Vehicle checked by another dealer, who advised consumer that recall repairs did not properly repair the first time. Dealer advised consumer that first dealer did not add all necessary components. Consumer states hood latch and ignition switch repaired under recall campaign (01V-040 and 00V-135) but failed again.

Consumer was traveling about 5mph and throttle got stuck. Dealership was made aware of the problem. Consumer received a recall notification in the mail #970 for the throttle cable and throttle linkage componets to be replaced, however after becoming stranded and then having vehicle towed it was determined by a mechanic that none of the throttle linkages components were replaced and mechanic informed consumer that the parts were on back order and the the previous dealer that performed the work must have used a defective part and consumer realized that the repair only took an hour.

After elec. Ingnition harness replaced under recall vehicle has had numerous electrical related faliures. Headlight switch melted in dash 2X's causing smoke and or fire condition. A/C failure, no power to compressor. Bucking, missing, hesitation at idle and all speeds. Buck, miss, hesistation can not be diagnoised by numerous dealers or private mechanics. Have spent over $1700 replacing parts (PCM, egr selonoid, egr gasket, tps sensor, iat motor, O2 sensor, fuel pump, fuel regulator) to remedy problem. So far no help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The listed item failed and caused the throttle to stick, I contacted the factory, the dealer and NHTSA and was told my vehicle was not included in the recall that affected this part:campaign number: O1V037000.this is a 1995 diesel pickup and is the exact same defect as described in this campaign number and caused me to spend over $350 to repair at the dealer not to mention the safety factor involved when my throttle stuck open at speed.

Consumer has a stick shift, and driving through traffic one day throttle wouldn't return. At that time there was no recall. Consumer purchased a new throttle and put it on. Consumer located recall 01V037000/ manufacturer's recall 97, )and contacted manufacturer. This vehicle was not included in recall due to VIN. Consumer states upon replacing the cable for the throttle, it was clearly evident that the cable was badly frayed and got caught on the rubber tube and caused an open stuck throttle.
