The vehicle vacuum system became contaminated with oil. This effected the vehicle's hav system, brake booster and deteriorated all the vacuum hoses which caused the brakes to fail intermittently. A recall was initiated for this problem but the consumer's vehicle was not included due to VIN. The dealer recommended that the consumer install an external brake booster check valve and hose, replace vent and defroster actuator. The customer declined the repairs.

The vacuum system was replaced twice due to oil contamination. Consumer was told about a recall on the check valve. Per manufacturer. This vehicle was not affected. However the check valve was missing on this vehicle. Recall# 97V068000. This caused the heater/A/C controls to fail and the vacuum hose leading to the master cylinder booster system. (full of oil and not functioning) the hose which lead to the brake booster was soft. The consumer had work done to the brake wiring system but immediately after the brake light had come on as the consumer was leaving the service dealer. The dealer didn't address the vacuum oil problem, but wanted to fix the unrelated problems. The air vent would not close while the vehicle was in motion.

- Glendale, AZ, USA
Recall #97068, dealer replaced the vacuum check valve in the brake pump in which the problem still exists. The vehicle experiences no braking ability. Had to use the emergency parking brake in order to stop. Consumer states the rubber vacuum fitting on line between pump and brake booster dislodged vacuum, oil fumes reacted to rubber and became unstable, this occurred after recall, all fittings have been replaced with better rubber fittings.
